The new model has a smaller, neater base unit and a better finish to the handset, with a higher tactile quality. The Panasonic 7220 is available in single to six pack and features 20 minute recording time, illuminated LCD and a 50 name and number phone book (transferable between handsets). The Panasonic 7220 is wall mountable, but requires an additional bracket.

Actually purchased the TG7232E which is virtually identical.
Just replaced my BT studio twin handset TAM with this model and it is far superior in every way. Most important is the answering machine. Messages are clear and easily understood, unlike my last BT machine which I eventually returned under warranty due to the awful quality of the recorded messages.

We have had a pair of Panasonic DECT phones (model KX-TCD410) for over four years now and they have proved very reliable. However I was always disappointed with them as the Caller List didn't store the date & time of each call, despite this information being sent by the telephone exchange (if you subscribe to Caller Display). Now that we need more than two handsets, I chose a KX-TG7224 system as a replacement. The 7200 series has a very good specification, and it is very easy to use.

Here are some of the features that are NOT mentioned in the instruction manual:

Calling List. If you subscribe to Caller Display then the Calling List shows the number (or name, if in the phonebook) of each caller together with Date & Time of each incoming call.

Date & Time setting. If you subscribe to Caller Display, the first incoming call will set (or reset) the system to the correct date and time - no need to enter it!

Power supply interruption. The Phonebook, Calling List and all Messages are retained if there is a Mains electricity failure. All the above are retained even if all the handset batteries are removed - only the Date & Time setting is lost. This is particularly important to me as I live in a rural area and Mains interruptions are not uncommon.

The ability to export the phonebook to other phones is very useful - you just have to remember to do it every time you add an entry.

Regarding the previous comment on stability, I haven't found this a problem. The handsets will fall out of the cradles in a forward direction if pulled forward but this is does enable the phones to be picked out of their cradles easily - you don't have to lift them at a particular angle. Sideways stability is fine.

Finally I found that I could register my old 410 handsets to the 7200 base unit, so we now have six phones that can be used directly to make or receive calls, and in intercom mode!

After years of buying BT phones I was swayed by the good reviews of the Panasonic range. Buying phone this I wasn't disapointed. Very easy to set up and I really like the copy feature so I dont have to enter everything into two phones. It has a nice feel to it and really good sound quality.
