Change Your Daily Diet with the Panasonic Bread Bakery™

The Panasonic Bread Bakery.

Imagine waking up in the morning or arriving home on a weekend afternoon to the aroma of fresh bread baking in your kitchen.

Having healthy, additive-free and tasty homemade bread is no longer a luxury demanding messy, hard work or professional techniques. You can now enjoy it at home using your own healthy ingredients. And, better still, the Panasonic Bread Bakery does it all while you are asleep.

Change your daily diet, with the Panasonic Bread Bakery.

Why the Bread Bakery does it better

Bread-making programmes.

Panasonic’s bread bakery programmes maintain the stability of the baking process regardless of the surrounding temperature. The yeast that helps bread to rise is a living organism extremely sensitive to heat. Because of this, the temperature at which the dough is kneaded, and any temperature fluctuations while the dough is rising, will affect the quality of the finished bread. If the temperature of the dough is too low, the yeast activity will slow down and, if too high, the yeast will overwork (if too hot, the yeast will die). Controlling the temperature of the dough is the key to producing delicious bread.

The comprehensive bake programmes mean you can try whole wheat, or even brioche. And you can vary the loaf size to medium, large or extra large. The choice is endless… it’s up to you!

All programmes come with timer facility aside from gluten free, for which a timer would not work. Normally, the yeast is covered by the flour and water is added on top but, because gluten-free flour is lighter and finer, it cannot act as a barrier to stop the water activating the yeast before mixing begins. Instead, the water is added first and the baking process begins straight away.

If you have special dietary needs, the Panasonic Breadmaker makes life much easier by giving you complete control over every ingredient in your bread. For example, you can bake gluten-free or high-fibre loaves. In addition, you can manage your family's diet by controlling the amount of salt and sugar that goes into every loaf--a huge advantage over shop-bought bread.

Bread Bakery Functions

In 1987, Panasonic developed the first bread-making machine and it is the technological know-how obtained from two decades of experience that go into these top-quality models. Bread Bakery is equipped with a variety of useful functions to suit the different needs of all home bakers, from the beginner to the experienced. The unique advanced baking programmes enable you to bake a variety of excellent breads are controlled by a microprocessor. In it are countless number of programmes that vary per mode according to the ambient temperature, controlling time and temperature of each process very delicately. This takes the difficult job of temperature control out of your hands.

Bread-making programmes.

Everyone has a favourite kind of bread. Some like it thick and crusty, others soft and delicate. Well, with the crust control feature on our breadmakers, you can keep everyone happy, by selecting how thick you'd like the crust to be before you even start baking. There are three different sizes to choose from when you're baking a loaf. So whether you just want something to dip in your soup or a full loaf for the whole family, you'll never have to bake too much or too little.

As well as a super rapid option for when you're baking in a hurry, our breadmakers also incorporate a delay timer, so you can make sure your favourite loaf is baked to perfection when you wake up in the morning--or just in time for dinner.

Panasonic breadmakers rise above the competition. With over ten different bread and dough modes and a time-saving super rapid option, our breadmakers are an ideal addition to any kitchen.

5.0 out of 5 stars first class breadmaker 23 Aug 2010
By chrispl
We've had a Morphy Richards breadmaker for the last 10 years or more. It had done well but had become unreliable as the pan kept popping away from the drive. After looking at numerous reviews we chose the SD-256WXC; one reason was that my wife now has a gluten allergy and there is a gluten-free setting on this model.

As soon as it arrived we tried a basic white loaf, and the result was absolute perfection! I was a bit hesitant about following the recipe from the Panasonic book as it said that the yeast and flour should go in first, with the water on top. This was the complete opposite of what we did with our old breadmaker. Anyway we precisely followed instructions and got a perfect loaf. We've also done a loaf with granary flour, using the timer overnight, and again a perfect loaf with a beautiful crisp crust. It's great to be able to make different size loaves, and select how well done you want the crust.

I like the way the pan locks in place with a simple twist; there is no chance that this will 'pop out' like our old one. Also (so far) the paddle has remained in the pan when the bread is removed, leaving a nice clean cut; you don't have to dig it out of the hot loaf. In addition this breadmaker does a proper shape loaf, not a tall square one like our old model.

My only slight disappointment is that the baking cycle is a bit longer than our old one; 4 hours for a basic white, compared with 2hours 45mins. But that's a small price to pay for a really good loaf.

5.0 out of 5 stars easy bread making for dunces 24 Sep 2010
By martin
My father recommended Panasonic breadmakers - he's used several different types over the years and says this is the best he's used. He isn't wrong - it's so easy to weigh the ingredients, put them all in and set the controls. Perfect bread every time so far - even the French bread setting compares to the real thing. Only downside is the length of time you have to wait for the finished article - but set the timer and there's fresh bread in the morning. If the bread isn't eaten on the same day, freshen up the crust under the grill for a few minutes - it comes out crisp and fresh again.
Maybe I should have spent a bit more and bought the SD-257 which makes rye bread (good for a change) and has a built in dispenser for raisins etc. Worth thinking about if you are embarking on home baking

5.0 out of 5 stars it actually does NOT stick!!! 3 Oct 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this after throwing away my previous breakmaker as it used to stick badly. I am amazed at this one, good bread every time - my favourite is 50% spelt & 50% organic white using the wholemeal 5 hour recipe, although it suggests another model if using spelt flour.

2.5 years later I am still making all my bread in this & it still does not stick.

5.0 out of 5 stars good job 18 Nov 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase
I've had a Panasonic for many years - this is my third or fourth. First one was £200 and the price has steadily dropped. I bought this one because the previous model's pan had stopped being non-stick and the pan alone was £50 or so. the machine works fine and bakes excellent bread. Not much point in getting the more expensive model which has a seed / nut dispenser. You can add seeds etc to this one, but they get mangled in - which I've never found a problem. Apart from the dispenser and the rye bread blade, they are the same machine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Panasonic SD-256wxc 4 Dec 2010

If you are looking for a bread maker, you need look no further. Panasonic has come up trumps yet again, with this
fantastic machine, which I might say is completely idiot proof. Bread, cakes, dough for rolls it does everything perfectly.
The instruction book is easy to follow and the recipes are varied and extremely good.
Warning, if you are trying to loose weight you are going to need a lot of willpower because the smell of fresh baked bread wafting through the house first thing in the morning is going to surely test you, even my husband can use it and that's saying something. After forty five years of marriage he has actually cooked something that is worth eating.
I would happily give Panasonic Ten out of Ten for this great value for money machine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gluten free programmes work 18 Sep 2010
We replaced our old Panasonic breadmaker with this. The new one works extremely well and we are particularly pleased with the gluten-free programmes which produce a loaf as good as or better than the gluten-free breads in the shops. Adjusting the recipe gives yet better results.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simplicity itself 21 Jun 2010
By Andy Edwards TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
Cards on the table, I am reviewing this on the basis I cannot cook, so anything that simplifies things and makes mistakes much less likely is welcome. So the Panasonic breadmaker is ahead as soon as we start, because, straight out of the box, with a packet of ready mixed ingredients (OK, I put in my own water and butter, watch out Delia) I produced a loaf of bread, which was devoured by my family almost before I got to sample it - it was really rather good.

I used the timer setting, so that we had a fresh loaf first thing in the morning, and we woke to the aroma of fresh bread, which was great. Setting things up was a breeze, there seem to be a vast range of options to produce the kind of loaf that suits you, and if you are a proper cook, then you can play around with recipes to your hearts content while the Panasonic takes all the hard work out of it - I'm told you would have to do lots of graft to make you own bread without it !!

Whether it's worth almost £100 is another matter - you're going to have to use this regualrly to justify the initial outlay, but for performance, simplicity and end result, it works for me and mine
