Panasonic SC-XH50EB-K DVD 5.1ch 330W Home Cinema Kit.
This is a replacement model for the S-PT70EB-K which began life back in 2006.
I am a brand name fan - partly for the company emblems to display my
good taste (!!) but mostly for the expected good quality of their products.
I recently purchased the XH-50 - delivered promptly by Amazon in their usual efficient manner - and spent an afternoon setting it all up. I have had a surround sound, 5.1 system for some years - ex LIDL Tevion model - which gave excellent service, great sound and so on but recently became unreliable due to a DVD drive that was often reluctant to activate. It had to go!
The new Panasonic equipment looked good and everything seemed to be commensurate with the modest purchase price of what is after all - at 330W output - a modest system, but ideal for budget minded, semi-detached dwellers like myself!
The surround sound amplifier has a single HPMI cable connection which plugs straight into the back of an HPMI enabled TV (preferably a Panasonic one, which allows full use of the Viera system). My original speaker cables were left in place and used to wire up the tiny but not unattractive new speakers. After some time figuring out the `easy set-up' procedure - so called - the system was up and running. Once you have the set-up menus onscreen its fairly straightforward.
If you have a Viera enabled Panasonic TV the amplifier will respond to the TV remote for some functions as well as the amplifiers dedicated controller. The DVD drawer can only be opened manually at the amp. but you have to visit anyway to place or replace the DVD or CD in the drawer so no great problem there. The drawer can however be closed remotely. The amps. front display is pretty irrelevant and is useful mainly just to see if it is on or off.
For such a modest set-up the sound is exceptionally good, both sonically and dramatically. Nothing like a bit of gunfire and the odd helicopter passing overhead through your living room ! I am well satisfied with the systems performance and can certainly recommend this equipment. Afraid I can't give the same complement to the Instruction manual, which is just about navigable for a veteran home entertainment semi-expert, but pretty much gobbeldy-gook for the innocent non techno newcomer! But don't give up in despair - with patience, success and satisfaction can be achieved!
Good equipment! Good price! Good performance! And a nice brand name!
