Product Description

Product Description

Panasonic SC-PMX7DB

This High-end Hi-Fi system with advanced audio technology offers superb sound with Bluetooth music streaming convenience. A DAB+ and FM radio is also built-in as is a CD player and an iPod/iPhone dock for 5th generation devices. Panasonic's audio expertise uses digital amplification and the latest speaker technology to deliver rich bass and an all round superb sound.

Product Concept

High Quality Sound from the Legacy of Technics

The audio design and sound refinements of the Panasonic PMX series are carried over by the audio engineers of Technics. High quality amplification, sound processing and speaker design all go together to deliver 120 watts RMS total power output through 3-way speakers with a rich tonal quality.

High Quality Sound

Full Digital Amplifier System [PMX System]

By eliminating the digital to analogue convertor found in conventional audio amplification systems, distortion and unwanted noise is also eliminated. Amplification and signal processing is done digitally and kept in a digital path up to the point of output to the speakers. Low consumption high-efficiency power circuits are also used creating a combined benefit of low power consumption and high quality sound reproduction.

LincsD Amplification

Based on the MASH noise shaping technology used in Panasonic products, LincsD-Amp markedly reduces jitter and distortion that can affect audio clarity, producing pure brilliant sound. The result is high-quality sound with a clarity that brings music to life.

3-way Bass Reflex Speaker System

Dynamic bass and a naturally balanced reproduction of the complete frequency range is delivered by the 3-way speaker system. The audio signal is divided into acoustic ranges extending from bass to treble, allowing each of the speaker units to produce rich, clear sound.

Nano-sized Bamboo Cone Speaker [PMX Series]
Panasonic SC-PMX7DB
Ultra-tiny bamboo fibres deliver fast response and crisp vocal sound view larger

Nano-sized bamboo fibres have been developed for use in the construction of the speaker cone to reproduce clear vocals and a more dynamic sound that is free from distortion. Bamboo is a sustainable material that has great properties for clear audio reproduction when used to replace conventional paper cone material. By carbonising the bamboo fibres to charcoal and mixing with polypropylene, this makes a lighter material that means faster response speed and reduced resonance.

Anti-Distortion Speaker

The Anti-Distortion speaker cone structure features an uneven thickness for the rear surface of the speaker cone. This inspired moulded pattern manufacturing process serves to suppress resonance, producing clear sound and minimising unwanted noise.

Binding Post Speaker Terminals and Removable Front Grilles

Binding post terminals are provided that allow the flexibility of upgrading to your preferred grade of speaker cable. Removable front grilles are also provided, reinforcing the fact that the quality and performance of the PMX series is a cut above most other systems in its class.

Smart Networking Features

Wireless Music Streaming with Bluetooth [PMX]

Enjoy music streamed wirelessly to this Panasonic model via Bluetooth. Any Bluetooth equipped device (PC/smartphone etc.) can be paired allowing you to enjoy great sound quality through the powerful system speakers.

Bluetooth Re-mastering

Bluetooth offers a simple wireless way to stream music from one device to another. However, during transmission the music data is compressed, resulting in loss of sound quality. Panasonic's Bluetooth re-mastering takes the treble sounds that are lost during compression and recording and compensates the data, resulting in higher quality playback.

Panasonic Music Streaming App
Panasonic SC-PMX7DB
Take the strain out of streaming with the Panasonic Music Streaming App

An easy way to control your music playback is by installing the Panasonic Music Streaming App. It allows you to play music via your home network to your speaker device no matter what type of streaming technology is required. Whether it's DLNA, Apple Airplay or Bluetooth, the app selects the appropriate method without you having to worry. Smartphone or tablet, PC or NAS drive, just launch the App and choose the music. Finally, select your audio product and away you go, great sounds in any room with minimal effort.

Added Value Features

Direct Digital Dock for iPhone 5 & 5th Generation iPod Touch

Many iPod docking systems convert the digital audio playback to analogue which can result in loss of data and introduce unwanted noise. The digital dock on Panasonic systems however, maintains the digital signal to the amplifier resulting in a pure and accurate sound reproduction. Panasonic's 2013 models are equipped with the Apple Lightning connector suitable for the iPhone 5 and latest generation iPod.

Enjoy DAB radio now and in the future with built-in DAB & DAB Plus
DAB and DAB+ Ready

Panasonic include a DAB+ tuner alongside the current DAB tuner in readiness for the switch-over to improve Digital Audio Broadcasts.

MP3 Playback from USB Memory Stick or CD

Music comes from many sources these days. It is easier now to move and share music to more than one player. The MP3 compression system means that you can compile hundreds of songs in your own favourite playlist. MP3 music tracks that are burnt to CD or copied to USB memory stick can be played back directly with this Panasonic model so that you are no longer tied to a pre-recorded music collection.

USB Port for Music Playback or Charging
Panasonic Panasonic SC-PMX7DB
The PMX7 not only looks good but sounds great too view larger

For added convenience you can play back music or even charge older generation Apple devices or other manufacturer's smartphones or digital music players via the built-in USB port.

MP3 playback and/or charging function is not guaranteed with all USB devices.

Auxiliary Input for External Sources

A twin phono/RCA input is supplied in order that audio playback from external equipment such as a TV or a portable audio player is possible.

Matt Black Brushed Aluminium front Panel

The matt black brushed aluminium facia of the PMX7 suggests a high level of build quality that isn't just limited to the outer casing. The Technics pedigree of the PMX7 ensures it's not just a pleasure to look at but also sounds great too.

This is a great product that allows you to stream music directly from your iPhone etc via Bluetooth. You can also control volume from your sofa. The only slight downside is that the volume on the unit needs to be high if you wish to play at loud volume via your phone. For some reason volume is lost during streaming. It is much louder if actually connected to the system via the dock. You just need to remember to turn the volume back down before you connect another iPod to the system or you will blast yourself! This is the only reason I have given this a 4 star rating.

I had been looking for a hi fi for some time but as my budget was tight and my spec list high it was proving problematic.I eventually bit the bullet after narrowing it down and went for the Panasonic. On opening I am still unsure wether it is bulky or not.I am used to docks so it did appear quite large initially but after living with it for a while now not so much.A tad old fashioned in appearance but if you change that for "retro" you can live with itThe sound is very impressive. Not being an audiophile I still found a significant improvement on my docks. The sound is clear and the different settings gives you enough options to vary the sound to your taste.Bluetooth works well though I haven't used it as often as I expected mainly because I often use the usb port as it charges whilst playing my 30pin ipod.
Lightning dock not yet used as I don't own any of these devices but nice for the future.
USB port has charged every device(outwith apple products) I've tried so far but doesn't always play the audio.
CD and DAB radio (after a fiddle with the ariel) plays well also.Only minor gripe is that the display is smaller than I would have liked. For instance when scrolling through the DAB station menu it takes a few seconds before you can see the full station name moving across the display. This is annoying especially for BBC and Absolute radio stations
Overall though I am delighted with my purchase and one I would recommend to anyone that wants quality sound and features without breaking the bank.

At the moment I'm comparing one of these to a Denon DM39 with the stock Denon speakers. I was well pleased with the Denon and nearly didn't bother to try the Panasonic, but once I did it was a big surprise. The Denon recieves rave reviews and rightly so, but the overall sound delivered by the Panasonic is far more powerful and rounded in my opinion. You can feel the bass rather than just hear it. If you are really into your audio, then the Denon is more 'refined', but for pure musical ooomph the Panasonic is the winner.

Delivered on time. A great micro system, crisp ,clear sound, with lots of connection options.
This unit is much more compact than my previous separate Hi Fi Rotel tuner, amplifier, and
Maranz CD player and yet delivers a superior performance

Really good system, good bass and treble levels. Use every function on it except for the iPod dock as I have an IPhone 4s and this system has a lightning connector, but this was clearly stated in the product description so I already knew, I could have gone for the older model which has the connector I need but the older model doesn't have Bluetooth which was an important function for me to have, plus I can still connect my iPhone through the USB socket on the main unit and it even charges it while the system is on standby. It's a very smart looking system, matches all my other gadgets I have on my shelves such as PS3, PS4 etc. so it doesn't look out of place. Feels like a high quality piece of kit, very well built like most Panasonic products.
The seller was also very good, I ordered around 8:15 am on Thursday 31st July and it arrived mid-morning the very next day, I was very surprised as it was only standard 3-5 day delivery, so no complaints there.
Overall, can't fault it at all. Extremely pleased with it. The only gripe I have is the price (£280 when I purchased) but if you want a good quality product you have to pay a good amount of money for it.

An outstanding product. I finally took the plunge after doing a good bit of searching. The Denon M39 was winning, except, on price. The Panasonic was a latecomer to my search and wins hands down on price and quality.
I am not an audiophile. I don't have the hearing of a cat, and need to spend £2k on a Bose or similar.
If you want great quality, lots of features for a good price (it was £232 when I bought it) this is the one. It's has Bluetooth connectivity, an aux option (we have the pc patched through it for video and specify). It picked up the dab straight away but I did buy an aerial for £10...
A top hifi. Does what it says on the box.

I bought this PMX7 system to replace my 10 year old Sony MiniDisc CD micro system. I wanted it particularly for the iPhone5 dock and the DAB radio.
In my opinion the sound from this system is disappointing, not as good as my old Sony one despite having similar power etc, so I would recommend you listen to a couple of units before you purchase.
I opted for this one without hearing them and am left wondering if spending a bit more would have been wiser.
On the positive side, it ticks the boxes, plays a good sound loud, and for the price of sub-£300 is very good all round unit.
