The slender Panasonic unit is a great space-saver in the kitchen, with good tone and power to fill a fairly large room. It has solid low-profile switches and a decent enough remote control. CDs play with a clear, almost sharp sound, but depth too. Far, far better than the Sony radio/cd/cassette player I had in the same space. So far so good. The radio, however, has disappointed. There is no telescopic aerial, but a cable one must attach up the wall and splay into a T shape. This is unsightly, which wouldn't be so bad if it gave good reception, but FM is awful and DAB is only ok with a few stations, mediocre with others and non-existent with some that ought to be available and indeed are on my Denon unit in another room.

If you wish to buy this product, take care to get the lowest price, as at the time of writing this product page leads with a supplier and price that is £12 higher than Amazon's own price (reached by following the other 'New from' suppliers link).

Four months later: there is no DAB reception at all. Panasonic support answered the phone and explained how to re-set, which worked in the sense that the device was willing to tune in, but reception is poor on all stations. They also offered a free visit from a local engineer, which I will be making use of. A small Roberts radio in the same location gets very good DAB and FM reception. The reception on the radio under review is either faulty or not fit for purpose. (Who has ever come across an FM radio that has poor reception on all stations in a normal suburban location?)

After having three hi-fi's that have all broken after about fourteen months usage, I decided to do a bit of research of reviews before buying a new one. After visiting a large retailer to actually see what was on offer (why are most hi-fi's so ugly?) I then started to read the reviews on the one I liked. Not all the reviews were great, about 50/50. The main problem seeming to be the DAB radio reception. I really only wanted this for playing cd's so bit the bullet and bought it. I am so pleased I did. This system looks great, sounds great and I love the fact that it's easy just to unplug and move to another room. Even better is I have no problem with the radio reception. LOVE IT!

I bought this item for the kitchen, as a gift for my husband, to play his Ipod and also for the digital radio. I gave it to him a couple of weeks after receiving it, on his birthday, and immediately we set it up from the box. Unfortunately the DAB radio did not pick up any signal in our house even though we have other digital radios which work. I phoned the company, who were initially very unhelpful, quoting their terms and conditions, which state that the radio had been here more than 7 days so they would not refund me, unless it was faulty, which I do not know is the case, only that it does not work here!
I was very unhappy with their attitude and insisited that as the item was not fit for the purpose of playing the radio in my house, regardless of whether it was faulty or not (which it might be) I felt I was entitled to a refund. I had only had it for 20 days because it was a birthday gift, which I had arranged ahead of the birthday to be sure of receiving it. The box had only been opened that morning.
After a strong discussion on the subject, and a phone call to Amazon customer services, the company agreed to make an exception for me and have refunded the cost of the radio, upon receipt of the return. I am grateful that they have done this but was disapoointed with their initial customer service attitude.

Very quick delivery.Looks good ,excellent sound quality ,we do not even need to use the aerial. If we did need to we think this is the weak point as it is a cheap alternative to a proper aerial but we already new this.Highly delighted and well worth the money.

This slick micro system has great sound and looks good. A birthday present for a teenager that was a complete hit. The sound fills the room and the Cd is effective. The radio is a little less robust but nonetheless perfect for small spaces. would definately recommend.

This unit worked straight out of the box, once I had worked out that you need to screw the aerial on fully to make contact. FM, DAB and CD play working fine, with the unit on the corner of my desk 1 metre from my head I am using volume setting 20(max. is 50). For its intended purpose, the sound is great, the styling is very attractive, seems to be modelled on the obelisk in the film "2001 - A Space Odyssey" but why not? After 32 minutes of ownership I'm very happy with it.

I bought this for my daughters bedroom, mostly for the iPod dock, but having had this since December I find she uses the DAB radio more than the dock. Very simple to set up, unpack it and you're away. It sits on a narrow shelf in her room and looks great. Very neat and compact, the ipod dock pushes back into the unit so it looks good when not in use, and the upright style means it will fit in the smallest place. It's loud enough to make her father grumble about the noise when he's downstairs in the office, but not so loud the neighbours are round. Overall the sound is good, perfect for smaller rooms. Our DAB reception is fantastic with well over 50 stations, on the aerial supplied. Overall very happy with it and a great buy, I plan to buy another for the Kitchen as soon as funds allow.
