As usual with Amazon's excellent customer service, the unit arrived promptly. Once un-boxed it looked great. CDs and tracks from a USB (the main reason I bought this particular unit) play brilliantly, with the volume between 20 - 25 being my personal favourite. The unit is certainly eye-catching and by now you may be wondering Why only 3 stars?

Well, the FM radio reception is appalling. This unit replaced a 20 year old Sony radio cassette CD unit which picked up all local and national FM stations with ease. However, despite several hours of twiddling with the awful FM wire aerial, and even moving the unit, the FM reception is still very poor, with most stations not recognised.

I do not see this as a problem with Amazon, but if Panasonic cannot resolve it, then I shall sadly and reluctantly have to return the unit. Shame, as the CD and USB sound is excellent.

I bought this item despite the reviews that said its radio had very poor reception. Unfortunately I had the same problem. The aerial supplied plugs in easily enough but reception is pathetic. It sizzles and fries away.
DESPITE setting up all kinds of extra aerials, including an enormous exterior aerial the reception is still poor UNLESS the atmospheric conditions are perfect. On some days nothing comes in clearly. I have to go back to my boom box from Tesco costing £10.99 to get good reception. THe one reviewer who reported good reception saying he only had to plug in his aeriel is lucky. I apologise for an earlier review I had written saying I had solved the reception problem by using a length of co-ax lead ... it helped a bit but the the atmosheric conditions were good on the day I wrote the review. The sound quality when playing CDs is only average ... little better than the cheap boom box. DO NOT BUY THIS SET.

We bought this because we wanted to listen to CDs and Radio 5 Live in our kitchen. As such, we wanted a unit that is compact and easy to move around. It certainly meets these criteria perfectly. The quality of sound is OK, but it lacks depth. Even with the D.Bass feature, there is not much punch. I suppose you cannot really expect it in speakers of this size. Radio reception is fine where we are - albeit, we can see the transmitting mast from our kitchen window! There is a hum on Radio 5 unless you move the AM aerial well away from electrical cables. All in all, it is fine for what it is. But don't expect high fidelity.

We bought this unit for our 10 year olds bedroom and I must say it is a stylish CD player. We listened to this unit instore and compared the sound to a 'Pure' Chronos II, which was also on our shortlist. The Panasonic won hands down! The sound and volume obtainable was lightyears superior and made our minds up immediately the CD demo commenced. The remote is very handy and operates everything from anywhere in the room. Overall this unit comes very highly recommended.

Bought this to play mp3's from a USB stick. Works quite well as described in other reviews mp3 filename appears on the screen which is useful. A few issues if you are playing tracks from mp3. A lot of options don't seem to work with USB files, specifically:

    - You can't move forwards/backwards within a track on USB (you can of course skip tracks)
    - Pressing the skip track button only advances one track at a time, if you want to skip more than one track, you need to keep hitting the button... this is annoying if you have 70 or 80 tracks
    - Track ordering is a bit random, if you don't explicity have track numbers tagged in your mp3 files
    - No way to browse folder names, they show up as Album A001 etc
    - Tracks show up as A001T001, A001T002 which means you need to remember track numbers

Audio quality is more than acceptable and it looks quite smart.

This is a fantastic USB/CD player, haven't really used the Radio so can't comment but I bought this for my 6 year old son & he absolutely loves it. The USB player really works well giving you song artist & title on the display and no problems as you just copy from any media player straight to a memory stick & off you go.

    Highly recommended product!

Although bottom of the range (because I did not require a unit with an i-pod dock), this unit provides very good radio and CD playback facilities at a reasonable price. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone who needs an all-in-one unit that occupies very little space but has good sound quality and intuitive controls.

This looks good and works perfectly with all the up to date features you would expect from Panasonic, even plays your Mp3s from a USB Flashcard. The sound quality is brilliant for the size of the speakers. It can be set up and running within a few minutes. my only criticism is, there was no AA battery supplied for the remote so I had to rob one from elsewhere. I attached the supplied FM antenna and the reception was problem free. Overall for the price this is worth the money in my opinion. Panasonic SC-HC15EB-K 10W Micro System with USB Playback
