Incredible Surround Sound

3D Cinema Surround

Cinema Surround is a state-of-the-art Panasonic technology that simulates the sound stage of a real cinema. 3D Cinema Surround in the 2012 models provides authentic surround sound through a total of 30 real and virtual speakers. Sound is perceived as coming from the correct direction thanks to Panasonic’s proprietary direction perception control technology made possible by years of research. At last, surround sound matches the immersive effect of 3D images.

BTT590
Anti-Jitter Digital Amplifier

Based on the phenomenal MASH noise shaping technology used for many years in Panasonic products, the Anti-Jitter Digital Amplifier markedly reduces jitter and distortion that can affect audio clarity, producing pure brilliant sound.

Digital Audio Connection for iPod/iPhone

Panasonic pioneered the iPod Dock for music systems, and now stay one step ahead by introducing a direct digital connection. Most docking systems convert the digital audio playback to analogue which can result in loss of data and introduce unwanted noise. The Digital Dock on Panasonic systems however, maintain the digital signal to the amplifier resulting in a pure and accurate sound reproduction.

Bamboo Speaker
Bamboo Speaker
Bamboo Charcoal Speaker Cone

Bamboo is a sustainable material that has great properties for clear audio reproduction when used to replace conventional speaker cone material. By carbonising the bamboo fibres to charcoal, this makes a lighter material that means faster response speed and reduced resonance.

Anti-Distortion Speaker

The Anti-Distortion speaker cone structure features an uneven thickness for the rear surface of the speaker cone. This inspired moulded pattern manufacturing process serves to suppress resonance, producing clear sound and minimising unwanted noise.

Down Firing Subwoofer

The Down Firing Subwoofer achieves powerful bass by releasing the sound downward from the speaker unit and port, and utilising the sound reflected from the floor or other surface.

Awe-inspiring 3D and Outstanding picture quality

The True to Cinema Picture Concept

3D from the heart of Hollywood - Since 1992, Panasonic has maintained a close working relationship with the top Hollywood film studios. Establishing Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory on the site of Universal Studios, this state of the art research and development centre began working on the Telecine and encoding process for the development of DVD. It continues to this day but has evolved in to one of the key encoding and authoring houses for Blu-ray and 3D Blu-ray. These activities have enabled PHL to accumulate the know-how necessary to faithfully reproduce original movie images on Blu-ray discs and have led to the development of the advanced imaging processors and chip-sets used in our range of DVD and Blu-ray players. The results are clear to see in our award winning models that achieve truly beautiful images with even more realism, depth and texture.

2D to 3D Conversion

Watch 2D videos in 3D, even movies streamed "On Demand" - Of course it's going to take time to build your collection of 3D movies. So Panasonic offer 2D-3D Conversion that enables conversion of regular 2D DVDs and Blu-ray Discs into 3D images with natural depth perception. Watch your prized DVD movie collection in 3D for even greater viewing enjoyment. New for 2012, models can also convert content from the on-line VIERA Connect services, including Video-on-Demand, into 3D.

DLNA - Enjoy Music, Video or Photo contents stored on your PC in another room

The Digital Living Network Alliance was set up by a number of software and hardware manufacturers to enable products to communicate with one another in a home network. DLNA-certified Blu-ray Disc™ Players and Home Cinema Systems can share or stream content stored on other DLNA-certified products. Share and enjoy digital photos (JPEG), music (MP3, WMA) and videos (AVCHD, WMV) on a Windows 7 PC, for example, by simply connecting to a home network (LAN) either wired or wirelessly. You can even install a special app on your iPhone or i.Pad and use it to send files to your Blu-ray device. You can access, browse and view compatible media stored on the other DLNA device while in another room, without having to worry about shuffling discs or running long cables.

Smartphone Remote Control

Download the Panasonic remote control apps for free and turn your iPhone or compatible Android device into a versatile remote. By installing the Panasonic remote control apps onto your smartphone, you can easily operate your Blu-ray Disc Players and Home Theatre Systems by tapping and swiping the touch display. • iPhone Remote Control App must be downloaded from the App Store (iTunes Store). • For this function, a wireless LAN environment is required. • System Requirements: iPod touch 3rd generation or later, iPhone 3GS or later, iOS version 4.2 or later.

External HDD Playback

New for 2012, the Blu-ray Disc Players and Home Theatre Systems are compatible with external hard disk drives, so you can enjoy music (FLAC, MP3), photos (JPEG, MPO), and camcorder video content (AVCHD, MP4) archived on an external HDD. Connection is via USB and most drives are compatible, even the latest NTFS (New Technology File System) format. • Playback is not possible with some external hard disk drives.

Wi-Fi Built-in

A Wi-Fi system is built right into the main unit so you can enjoy VIERA Connect, BD-Live content and downloadable firmware updates without having to connect the Blu-ray Disc Players and Home Theatre Systems with a LAN cable or use a wireless LAN adaptor. • A wireless LAN environment is required.

Ease to Use

VIERA Link

Easy operation with a single remote control - VIERA Link lets you operate a Blu-ray Disc player or a Home Cinema System with a single VIERA TV remote control. Connection is made via HDMI cable enabling multiple Panasonic products to communicate with one another. With VIERA Link there's no more need to switch between multiple remote controls.

HDMI Input x 2

Two HDMI inputs are equipped on the main unit. This enables set top boxes, game consoles, and other digital devices to be connected via HDMI to easily configure a 5.1-channel surround system. The Standby Pass Through function also conveniently allows signals from devices connected to the home cinema system to go to the TV even when the home cinema is turned off.

Wireless Ready Rear Speaker

With a purchase of the optional SH-FX71 digital wireless transmitter, the rear speakers can operate without a wired connection from the main unit. The wireless system transmits audio signals by radio waves, so there's no need to run speaker cables across the floor to the back of the room.

Great Home Cinema System but I personally had issues setting this up. Due to some energy saving settings, my TV wouldn't let the system turn itself and my PS3 colours looked wash out as RBG wasn't on full, Changed power save settings on my TV and pictures settings on PS3 and everything started to function as it should have!

Anyway, my setup: Panasonic GT30 3DTV, Sky HD, PS3 and the BTT590.
Sky connected into HDMI 1 on TV, BTT590 connected into HDMI 2 ARC on TV and PS3 connected into a HDMI input on the BTT590. I don't connect Sky straight to the blu ray as Sky doesn't support 5.1 surround sound through HDMI so no point. Due to some annoying HDMI copyright issues a TV can't pass 5.1 surround sound from a device connected to it, it will convert it to 2 channel sound then send it to a system via HDMI Arc functionality.

Pros:-
- Sound quality is absolutely brilliant, it's loud, clear and very bass driven. No crackles or distortion, I haven't tried full volume yet as it's annoying the family already(lol) but it is amazing.
- Picture quality is as good as it's going to get then it's down to your TV to process the image. The higher end TV you have, the better the PQ will look, eg if your TV doesn't support 24p then blu ray playback will suffer.
- Speakers and blu ray player look extremely nice.
- Menus are nice and simple.
- Has quite a bit of options to alter sound and picture quality to your desire compared to Sony's offerings.
- iPhone playback is pretty good too.
- "Super Surround", so most other systems output 2 channel audio through the front left and right speakers or all 4 surround speakers. The BTT590 has the "SS" feature where it will output 2 channel audio as virtual 5.

Having auditioned quite a lot of home theatre systems some over £1000. I settled for this one from Panasonic. The HD picture quality is great on a 46inch TV.As yet I cannot try the 3D facility.
The main reason though was the sound quality, which is quite fantastic at this price. Bass is clear and deep especially film sound effects, while the middle and treble are transparent and clear making speech very clear and understandable.

One downside, but not serious, is that when switched on it reverts to DVD input meaning the system has to switched to TV each time. Unless a DVD is played of course!
I have yet to work through all of the possible sound configurations.

All in all an excellent product.

Bought this to replace older home cinema dvd system where dvd no longer worked. The set up is very straight forward, short simple quick set up guide. The speaker cables on surround speakers are 8m long (I thought this more useful than just saying too short on plenty long enough since your lounge is not the same size as mine). They could be easily extended with additional speaker cable if necessary. The surround speaker bases can be easily removed with a single screw for mounting on to tall stands or wall mounts.

I have a Sony Bravia 40ex723 LED tv. I initially wanted to get a Sony Home Cinema system to ensure compatibiity, however on extensive reviews it was clear this award winning system was the one to get. The HDMI sync works perfectly which I was not sure it would with different manufacturers. Once connected with an HDMI cable to the ARC channel on the TV the TV knew the system was there and disabled the TV speakers automatically. Sound system turns on and off when TV is turned on and off.

The sound and picture quality are superb. Set the correct speaker delay for surround speakers according to your seated distance and you can really hear the difference. The high quality speakers deliver top sound at any volume. You will never use the full power of this system. Some reviews say that the system reverts to disc when switched off and back on. This is not the case although may happen if you leave a disc in the system. This system is so simple no one else needs to learn how to use it. Just switch the TV on and the Sky remote operates the audio system volume. I have not played much with the internet access but iplayer works fine. I have this on my TV so was not a factor when buying.

Ipod dock makes playing music easy and I also have mine connected to an FM aerial in the loft giving excellent radio.

I would recommend this system to anyone. I bought for £300 and it is certainly worth every penny.

First class sound. Easy to put together. Only gripe is the useless FM radio aerial. If using in combination with a PVR the routine operation gets complicated as not all the remotes integrate. It seems to be disappearing from the shops but I wouldn't hesitate to get one if you can.

This is a great and powerful home cinema, but it is difficult to get the settings right and get the best sound, if only Panasonic (who are great manufacturers) would only help us novice users to get the best out of their products. A great buy though.
