Panasonic adds a new 4-blade to its premium men's linear shaving family the ES-LF71. With its new 4-blade cutting system, it delivers impressive performance, ideal for men with sensitive skin or with heavy stubble who need a fast and gentle, clean-cut shave without compromising on comfort.
The ES-LF71 belongs to Panasonic's newest Lamdash series which boasts the following state of the art shaving technologies:
- Fastest linear motor drive for optimum power from start to finish.
- Sharpest nano-edge inner blades with optimum 30 degree angle.
- Revolutionary arc-shaped foil for optimum gliding and comfort.
- Multi-dimensional pivoting head to freely move about facial contours.
The 4-blade cutting system works in a 3-stage cutting process:
- The slit blade "slit foil" cuts long whiskers ready for smoothing with the finishing foils.
- The lift blade has been designed to lift flat-lying hairs for close one-pass shaving under chin and neck.
- The two finishing foils catch stubble at the base for a closer shave. Micro technology and arc-shaped design at 41 microns at its thinnest and 60 microns at its thickest achieves the highest shaving performance and skin comfort for irritation-free results.
Linear motor and the world's sharpest nano-edge blades for less cutting resistance
The ES-LF71 is equipped with the world fastest linear motor drive, to power the extremely sharp inner blades. The blades are aligned at a 30 degree acute-angle to shave off hair horizontally to give a more precise, close shave; and sharpened to nano level, up to 3 times sharper than most conventional blades. Nano particles minimize the blade edge to only 0.3 compared to conventional 1.0. This reduces the cutting resistance by 1/2 (Panasonic comparison) for an effortless shave. The linear motor constantly outputs 14,000 cycles per minute and has automatic speed control to keep maximum power even during low battery life preventing tug and pull; as well as powering through the toughest stubble for the smoothest finish like never before.
Super flexible head and foils
This shaver features a flexible multi-dimensional pivoting head that stays in close contact and adapts to the contours of your face. Allowing effortless gliding in any direction which is supported by the rounded shaped outer foils designed to prevent irritation. Pivoting up and down and side-to-side the flexible head can be fixed if preferred by using the lock switch to fix its position.
Wet and dry technology--the choice is yours
Panasonic shavers offer the convenience of electric shaving with the optional benefit of either an excellent dry shave or the refreshing feeling of a traditional style wet shave. Use with any shaving foam/gel or oil and have total confidence of submerging your shaver in water. The ES-LF71 is 100% waterproof so can be used in the shower too. Simply place the shaver in the cleaning and charging unit and leave it to automatically wash, dry and charge the shaver to maintain maximum shaving performance. Next time it's used, the blades will be hygienic and in optimum condition thanks to the lubricant-enhanced washing agent, which also means that the hassle of blade lubrication has been eliminated.

Anyway, the shaver itself is a delight to use and gives an amazingly close shave. I have stubble that is like barbed wire, it destroys razor blades in no time at all, that and stubble that grows in different directions has always made getting a close shave almost impossible. I have tried all the pre shaves,lotions creams etc. and always found that wet shaving caused a rash/sore skin so I have been using electric shavers for many years. My last was a Braun which I was very disappointed in for its poor build quality and design, despite new blades and foils on a regular basis the time required to get a half decent shave was silly and tedious.
Charge up this Panasonic and tried a dry shave, bingo, a very close shave in a quarter of the time the Braun took despite 2 days growth. Next day tried a wet shave and that was even quicker and close is an understatement, I haven't had a face this smooth since @1970!
The cleaning/charging station is well thought out and easy to use even if it did terrify the dog when it went into action. The instructions are good and clear with decent images to assist, nice to also see the part numbers included for the spare blades etc.
Hopefully the sevice life will be reasonable, time will tell.
I can't think of any disadvantages except it is a bit expensive.
