We purchased this from the online Co-op shop (very reputable, we would certainly buy from them again, in spite of this microwave, for their handling of our complaint) and 2 weeks after using noticed there is a 2mm gap between the door and the body of the microwave - one is able to view through to the inside of the oven through the honeycomb mesh at the side of the microwave. On calling the Co-op shop, they told us they had had 3 returns of the same model, all with the same fault. I hope we haven't been affected by this but it is obviously a very unsafe machine - how did this pass Panasonic's safety standards?

We had previously used a Dimension 4 microwave for years from Panasonic, but noticed their build quality has deteriorated considerably and we would not purchase another from the same manufacturer. The problem is that most of the components these days come from China where labour and materials are of course much cheaper but they tend to be of inferior quality. Manufacturers tend to purchase these components knowing they have a shorter lifespan. Who would want to sell a microwave that will last for ten years which means of course you lost on sales this way.

Beware anyone who purchases, always buy from a good retailer who will give you an honest report on the reliability of the machines they sell (such as John Lewis).

I am putting the record straight after reading the last review left by E. Williams on this appliance. A fault in manufacturing does not in any way describe the functioning and versatility of this oven. Faults can appear on any appliance and Panasonic are renowned for their good customer service in most cases. (There will always be an exception). I have been reading excellent reviews on this model all over the Internet and have had the pleasure of using this appliance for a week. It is because I found it so good that I have put in an order for it and I can't wait for it to arrive. At the moment it is currently out of stock at Panasonic and everywhere where the price is modest.

This microwave bakes a potatoe crispy and crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and has many diffferent modes of cooking. It is so good, you can replace it with your normal oven to cook dishes for one or two people. I would not go by someone who has come across a fault in the manufacturing process but by a user who has used one for many months and can give a first account experience of what this oven can actually do.
