Combining high picture quality and superb stereo sound with intelligent control, Panasonic's NV-FJ620BS is slick looking and easy to use. Its super drive system offers a combination of features that make your VCR a joy to set up and use. Super drive provides intelligent control for effortless operation with sophisticated functions. Auto-set-up tunes your VCR into the available channels, sets the clock and even adjusts itself from summer to wintertime. The Easy Guide OSD (on screen display) enables you to adjust settings through an easy-to-follow display panel on your TV screen.

EP mode super long-play enables you to record up to 12 hours on a four-hour tape. The 60-second jet rewind feature rewinds a 180 minute tape in 60 seconds without damage. 35x jet search lets you visually search a one-hour recording in EP mode in just 100 seconds.

Q-link gives you fast, one touch control of your VCR and TV (providing that the TV also has a Q-link). For example, Direct TV Record makes it easy to record the programme you're watching by pressing one button on the remote control. Or when you insert a tape, the VCR and TV are automatically turned on, and the tape starts playing. (Note that this only works with a TV with Q-Link via a fully wired 21-pin SCART cable).

NTSC Playback enables NTSC recorded tapes from the USA or Japan to be viewed on your PAL TV. (For NTSC playback, the TV must have a PAL decoded capable of auto switching between 525 and 625 lines--otherwise the picture may be unstable, not fill the screen or not displayed at all).

As you can guess from my rating of this vcr and the title of this review, I am very happy with this purchase. I had needed a new VCR for some time and so I spent alot of time researching the various products on the market and finally settled with this one, and I haven't looked back since. Probably the best feature of this VCR is the super long play function. Basically a four hour tape becomes a twelve hour tape. How amazing is that. There is also the super fast rewind function. I used to hate when my old VCR took ages to rewind a tape, this one is very fast. Apparently it can rewind a 3 hour tape in 60 seconds. I haven't timed it but it sounds accurate. Its got all the basics aswell: auto tune for the channels, stereo sound, timer record, etc. One warning though - Its not the cheapest VCR around. There are alot of other VCRs that are around that are [...] cheaper, but most dont have the super long play function that this one has. Basically I recommend this VCR strongly. I already convinced one of my mates to buy it and he's as pleased as I am. Another plus point is that its made by Panasonic so you know it going to be a good quality product.

After having this Video Recorder for just under a year it has started to develop faults. I expect much better quality and durability from a decent manufaturer.
The controls of the machine are clumsy and poor. The PDC on the machine seems to work very occasionally as a friend with the same machine has confirmed.
It looks like I will have to buy a new Video Recorder and will never buy a Panasonic again.
