The high speed Live MOS Sensor realizes burst shooting in 16.05-megapixel full resolution at 5 fps with mechanical shutter and up to 40 fps (4-megapixel recording mode). This is coupled with a fast, accurate Light Speed AF system. The GH2 employs an 18.31 megapixel sensor but typically uses about a 16.05-megapixel area making it possible to give three aspect ratios – 16:9, 3:2, and 4:3 – with the same angle of view.
The GH2 is capable of recording high-resolution full-HD 1,920 x 1,080 50i movies in the AVCHD format. Sensor output is 50p and high quality sound can also be recorded with Dolby Digital Stereo Creator. In addition, the GH2 has a wide range of movie modes including Manual, 24P Cinema Mode with 23Mbps, Variable Movie Mode and iA Mode. When connected to a Panasonic VIERA television via an optional mini HDMI cable, the TV's remote control unit can be used to control playback for greater convenience.
The GH2 features a touchscreen which can also control shooting. While shooting, touching the desired part of the screen will automatically set focus to this point and release the shutter at the same time. While playing back, you can quickly select an image to view by scrolling through images using the touchscreen. The 3.0-inch 460,000-dot free-angle LCD with touch operation makes both monitoring and shooting comfortable in almost any position.
The Color and Film Modes on offer make it easy to customise colour effects to match your preference or shooting requirements.
When you want to take things easy, setting the camera in the iA Mode employs a combination of functions that makes it easy for anyone to capture beautiful photos and movies.
