5.0 out of 5 stars Limix dmc ft10 wow what a beauty 10 Jan 2011
Colour Name:Black
I have had three Tough cameras in the past 2 from Olympus, all of them very disappointing tough but slow on shutter lag, and bad hand shake, fuzzy pics long time turning on...THIS camera is none of the above, it is Fast , clever, clear pictures and so simple to use a real point shoot and you have a perfect pic. I travel the world from Everest base camp to kitboarding surfing climbing and hanging out on the worlds best beachs drink cold beer, now i have a great little pocket friend to take and be proud of.and this is a little Gem had it 3 days and put it through the pases and believe me i know what the paces should be...this camera really is FANTASTIC, and a great silicone case good strong camera strap. well one Lumix, forget Olympus

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little camera 8 Mar 2011

Recently purchased this camera for a snorkelling trip to the Maldives. Have owned 4 other similar 'tough' models and had problems with leakage and general usage. This one is well designed, compact, light, easy to use. Follow the 'near water/beach' care instructions (which look complicated but, in fact, are quite simple) and it performs perfectly. Good clear pix, great movie clips, adequate zoom - battery lasts ages. Only downside - the shutter and power buttons are too close together; in the excitement of spotting a turtle/manta/shark it's far too easy to hit the wrong one and miss that precious shot.

I bought this camera to take dinghy sailing and kayaking, both at sea. It's been in the sea water a few of times and splashed plenty of other times. We launch on and off a beach so it's been exposed to grit as well. No problems so far. I do take care to follow the instructions - soak it in fresh water for 10 minutes and let it dry before opening the camera, and always make sure the latches and seals are really clean before closing ( a brush is included). Many of my photos are taken with one hand and bouncing about, so the images are bound to be blurred on occasions. The silicone jacket supplied makes it easy to grip and adds to the robustness. I sometimes find myself inadvertently pressing the wrong buttons while taking photos with one hand. Remember, this camera doesn't float so be sure to use a tether.

I've also used it at weddings, etc. I don't think the results are that brilliant for 14 megapixels but I suppose there has to some compromise to meet the rugged/waterproof requirements. The large photo file sizes came as a bit of a surprise but the menu allows you to reduce the pixels before taking pictures, or file size after the picture has been taken. There are plenty of features in this camera to let you cope with a multitude of scenarios. I've used the HD video briefly but not yet found a way of downloading HD to my laptop. I've yet to use many of the features of the camera and probably will never get round to trying everything, but so far I'm quite happy with the way it performs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great fun! 19 Jun 2011

I took this camera on a beach holiday a few weeks ago. It was great! I've broken cameras before by getting sand in them or getting them wet at theme parks etc but this one is trully waterproof, dustproof and shockproof. It was great fun - we used it loads in the see and at water parks.

Obviously it's a simple point-and-shoot. You don't need the 14MP (10 is enough) and there are better cameras out there if you want pictures of scenery and sunsets, but for messing about and having fun this is perfect.

Well worth the money if you're not a serious photographer.

4.0 out of 5 stars lumix FT10 6 May 2011

A nice bit of kit, shame it will not refocus in video mode, and the sound is rubbish, but on the plus side I took it down to at least four to five metres and no sign of a leak. MUST remember to clean lens after being in the salt water (dried salt doesn't make for good pictures). Well worth the price, but for that little bit extra there are better cameras out there.

This camera is great.
It's light and small but takes perfect pictures and quickly too.
Just got back from holidaying in Egypt where we snorkelled lots and got some amazing shots from this camera.
The different modes are fantastic, especially the sunset mode and the starry night mode!
Def worth the money, it's great!

I was very impressed with this camera and would recommend it to anyone who needs a sturdy unit. Took it snowboarding in Sweden and it stood up well to the cold. Performs brilliantly for the price.
