5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value from a quality make, 25 Mar 2008
I bought this as my old standalone Philips answer machine started sounding like a Dalek. It Was a Best Buy from Which magazine and looked tremendous value at the price. Most surprising was the fact that my other Panasonic cordless phones (KX-TCA151EM) are compatible with this base unit , allowing me to review all phone messages from any phone around the house. The only incompatibility seems to be when trying to copy the phone book from my old phones to the new base as this wouldn't work. We all love a bargain and this is one of them.

first impressions are nice build-quality but def not of the same quality of more expensive Panasonics but for the price a good buy. call signal is good, the phone produces a clear voice.

the ringtones are.. err.. poor.

overall a bargain

2.0 out of 5 stars Unreliable, 29 Jul 2008
By L. Holland "Lhollo" (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I've had this problematic phone for a year now and am about to replace it. I work from home and on occasion it has cut out mid phone call - rather embarrassing. At other times it simply won't start up, even though the battery shows as being fully charged. As a result it now spends much of its life in the cradle, not that this helps much.

I have a client who was for some time unattainable on her landline. When I finally managed to reach her she explained that her home phone was unreliable and kept cutting out. Guess what, she has this phone as well.

I don't know how Which managed to rate this so highly. I can only think it's because their durability test consists of dropping the phone repeatedly, rather than seeing how well it copes with standard usage. It might not break if you throw it, but I've certainly been tempted a few times.

The answer machine is reasonable although the sound quality can be poor.

The ringtones are not exactly cutting edge.

The features, however, are reasonable for a phone at this level - so if you want a nice toy that's no use in the real world, let that sway you.

Really good - works well, looks neat, easy to set up. I was sufficiently impressed I bought extra handsets for my Mum who had the single Panasonic unit. Read more
