4.0 out of 5 stars Good phone 5 Oct 2009
Verified Purchase
Generally a very good phone. poor selection of ring tones however. Very good sound on speaker phone, but when not on speaker phone, can be quiet even on max volume. Excellent battery life. Good clear display - easily read even if you're getting a bit long sighted. Caller history does not tell you when they called - this would be helpful. Telephone book entries for names limited to 16 characters - as are many other phones - so you have to truncate some names.
Would recommend.

3.0 out of 5 stars A step backwards for a colour screen 29 Jun 2011
Verified Purchase
Bought to replace an ageing pair of Panasonic DECT handsets whose buttons had started to get very tempramental, I had high expectations of these handsets.

I was disappointed.

For all their colour screens, wallpapers and polyphonic MIDI ringtones, they are lacking some basic features that I'd considered standard on my (several years) older handsets. My main gripes are below:

- For starters, the handsets can't be named - it might sound trivial but I like to know when I find a handset on the sofa where it should go back to.
- There's no shared base-station phone book! This means that you've got to enter favourite numbers on EACH handset. Too many times I've gone to make a call only to find that the number hasn't been added to the handset I've picked up
- The ring-tones are, for the most part, pretty awful and there's no way of adding any others.
- There doesn't seem to be any facility to upload your own wallpapers so you're stuck with the 3 or 4 that Panasonic saw fit to provide.

With the current state of technology I didn't expect any of the things above to be an issue. But they are a significant source of frustration to me.

To be fair though, it's not all bad.

The styling is good. The construction is sound too. The colour displays are bright and easy to read and the joystick driven menu system works easily enough. IN use the sound quality is good and clear, even on the speakerphone. The range of the handsets easily enough for my needs - I've used it at ranges up to about 30 metres and there haven't been any problems. Battery life has been good - easily catering for several hours worth of telephone conferences in one sitting.

No problems so far, answering machine functions correctly and handsets work well in both normal and hands-free modes. I get a bit of an echo when using the handset at the bottom of the garden (20+ meters, through 2 walls), but apart from that remote operation is very good.

The color screen is a bit of a gimmick really - very low resolution so doesn't look all that great (think 1990's mobile phone). Also as other reviewers have noted most of the ringtones are pretty horrific. At present both the base station and the handsets produce different rings for an incoming call, so it's quite a cacophony, but you certainly can't miss it! We need to read the manual more to see if this can be changed.

Apart from those minor issues all other functions are good. Using hands-free combined with mute button worked well for a large conference call taken at home - was able to make my lunch while listening to the blather!

4.0 out of 5 stars PANASONIC TWIN PHONE 21 Nov 2009
Purchased this one month ago. Extremely pleased with the look of it. For a change found the instruction booklet supplied with it easy to follow. Have already mastered the majority of its functions. At 69 years old I sometimes struggle with today's technology but not in this case.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Quality & Easy to Use 15 Aug 2009
Verified Purchase
We got these to replace older BT Synergy phones we had for some years. The Panasonic phones have better speaker quality, a great colour screen on each phone, Up to 200 numbers in memory - more than we'll ever use. And you can transfer stored numbers from one phone to the other. The only slight problem is that the display screen can quite bright by the bed at night - but you can alter the display to different colours. Overall - great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple set-up, easy to use 3 Sep 2009
Verified Purchase
I bought this recently from Amazon, and it arrived within days.
The phones worked straight from the box - there was a small residual charge in the batteries - and set-up was easy.
Someone mentioned that the screen is too bright at night, but you can set the screen to switch off except when charging; you can also change the wallpaper.
I bought for a simple, visible answerphone and this phone does exactly that. The handsets do look a little cheap (as did my previous, non-Panasonic phone, which lasted about ten years!) but if you hold it to your ear you won't see it.

This is a superb phone that is light, smart, full of functions and most importantly works well as a phone, with clear voices.

One previous review stated you cant turn the speaker off, well you can, just press the green call button to turn it off during a call. Reading the instructions will show you just how much this phone does.

All in all a great purchase, i would never return to a BT cordless phone again.Panasonic KX-TG8422EB Colour DECT Twin Phone With Answer Machine - Black

4.0 out of 5 stars Panasonic Own Goal 23 May 2009
Panasonic KXTG8322 Colour DECT Digital Cordless Telephone Twin with Answer Machine - Black
Panasonic KXTG8323 Colour DECT Digital Cordless Telephone Trio with Answer Machine - Black

Got this recently as I had to have the much needed answerphone feature. We already had an older Panasonic (Model KX-TCD755E) and were very happy with it. Excellent battery life, sturdy, reliable, loads of features is what I had become used to. The new phones have a similar pedigree although are much lighter, a bit more plasticky with cheap looking silver bits bolted on. I was willing to live with this as there are other redeeming features such as better buttons and clearer LCD colour screen. The firmware is more or less the same as the earlier model, which made it easier for me to set up. The SMS Text feature only works on BT Line. If you are connected to Virgin Cable - forget it. One major drawback though is the operation of the hands-free speakerphone. For some strange reason it is unable to be deactivated during a call. Once you turn it on - it's on until you hang up. It's a bit of an own goal on behalf of Panasonic as the speakerphone feature on the older models were switchable during calls. I often use hands-free when I'm put in a caller queue as it allows me to make a cuppa while waiting. In the past I would run in and revert to normal use once the Musak stopped and a real person came on the line. I now have to adopt one of those Apprentice poses and clearly enunciate my vowels!

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor phone
Avoid this phone. You can barely hear someone on the other end of the line. Awful product. Panasonic produced great phones one time but this should be removed from the market.
