I bought this phone to replace a 7yr old BT Quartet 1500 and today, after 10 days of struggle, I've hauled the old beast out of the bin and reconnected it. The panasonic has a few problems. The hiss and crackle is deafening. Although you can listen to a message as the caller leaves it you can't interrupt and speak to the caller because the sound echoes and the quality is so poor. Also the messages don't have a time and date even though there is a time and date setting on the phone. I've given it one star for the only good thing about it which is the address book but if you can't hear the person you're calling it's not a lot of use.

I had comments from people who had called me and left a message wondering why I never returned their call. I had not received their messages and put it down to the callers getting confused and mis-dialling. After a year I met a business contact who was angry with me for not replying to their job offer left on my answerphone, thinking I was really rude. I started to purposely not pick up the phone if I was in and a caller rang and left a message to see if it was faulty. Eventually a caller left a message which I was present to witness but it was not recorded. I sent off the phone to Panasonic - now out of warranty - and they said they would test it. They could not replicate the problem and refused to offer me any type of recompense, credit, same model - nothing. The inference is I was lying but I was not. I saw the product NOT record in front of me. Will not buy Panasonic ever again.
