1.8 inch Amber Backlit Screen

The large, backlit 1.8-inch screen is easy-to-read, and the simple menu screen lets you access functions without confusion.

100 Name and Number Phonebook

Up to 100 names and phone numbers can be entered and stored. The phonebook allows you to make calls without having to dial manually. You simply search for the name and select the number you want to dial.

15 Hours Talk Time

One full charge of the battery will provide about 15 hours of talking time before the battery will need re-charging.

170 Hours Standby Time

When the handset is not being used but left off the base station, the charge will be retained for up to 170 hours before requiring a recharge.

'Clear Sound' Technology

A High-precision error correction system ensures clear conversation with less sound glitches, allowing you to enjoy a smooth, error-free conversation even when you're far away from the base unit.

Speakerphone Function

If you want other people in the room to join in your conversation or you want to use the phone without holding it to your ear, no problem, just press the "speakerphone" button.

30 Minutes Answer Machine

The base station includes a built-in Telephone Answering Machine (TAM) that automatically answers and takes a message from the caller when you cannot answer the call yourself. This models digital recording system captures up to 30 minutes of messages.

You can see the message count thanks to the 2-digit LED

TAM Counter

You can see the message count without operating the handset. Voicemail messages can pile up while you're away. Having to operate the handset just to see how many messages you have is bothersome. The handy counter is located on the base unit and makes it easy to see how many messages you have at a glance when you return home.

Caller ID

Caller ID is a subscription service offered by many telephone service providers. When an outside call is being received, the caller information is displayed. Caller information for the last 50 callers is logged in the caller list from the most recent call to the oldest. *Contact your service provider/telephone company for details.

Incoming Call Barring

This feature allows the unit to reject calls from specified phone numbers that you do not want to answer such as junk calls. *Requires subscription to a Caller ID service.

Visual Ringer and Smart Function Key

The Smart Function Key (Top Key) on the top of the handset flashes according to the situation. This provides an entirely new level of easy use. It is also a useful visual indication of when the phone is ringing.

Short Stroke Keys

The keys do not protrude far from the handset, so they require only a gentle press and have a positive feel. They also help to give the handset an attractive slim appearance.

One Touch Eco Mode Button

One touch Eco modes let you lower the power consumption by one touch pressing the eco button on the handset. In eco mode, the signal output is reduced by 90%*. * Compared to the normal mode

Advanced Alarm Clock

If you like to keep your phone in the bedroom there is no need for a separate alarm clock. The Panasonic alarm function lets you set a different wake-up time for each day, and the Snooze function sounds the alarm every 5 minutes.

Wall-mountable Base Station

With 2 simple screws (not supplied) the base station can be hung on the wall. This frees up space on your work surfaces or cabinet furniture.

Expandable - Up To Six Handsets

For large houses or large families you can add additional handsets. Up to six handsets (available to purchase separately) can be paired to the master base unit allowing every family member to have their own handset or allowing handsets to be placed conveniently around the home in different rooms.

We bought this quad set of Panasonic phones (KX-TG6724EM) for my girlfriend's sister and her brother-in-law who have recently moved to a large house with a separate granny flat. We were concerned as to whether the phones would have sufficient range for this application but we need not have worried - reception is fine. However, for information, Panasonic do a DECT range extender which can easily be added to this set if required.

As we see it these are the pros and cons of these phones;

Pros

- The handsets are well made and sturdy with reasonably large keys and clear black on orange displays.
- Battery life is very good - the phones can be left off their charging cradles on standby for several days - obviously, if you have a large number of calls this will reduce.
- Each handset has a "softkey" which gives easy access to "immediate" functions such as replaying messages that have been left or listing missed calls etc.
- The audio quality is good and each handset has a built in (but switchable) equaliser which improves voice quality considerably. The speakerphone facility is also good too - important to my relatives when working from home.
- The key functions such as redial, phonebook and intercom etc. are very easy to access plus it is simple to copy phone numbers stored on one handset to the other three.
- The answerphone facility is easy to operate and comes with a pre-recorded greeting, plus, you set your own PIN number for remote access to your messages - so you shouldn't be a victim of voicemail hacking. You can replay messages from any of the handsets or remotely.
- You only need one phone socket for the base unit (plus an adjacent mains socket) - for the other three base units all you need is a mains socket.

Having decided to upgrade the phones in my house, as some of them were over twenty years old and the only digital one I had was starting to play up,I looked through the phones on offer on the Amazon website.Having chosen the model I liked and reading what other people had said about them, but when I came to order them I found out there was a newer model so I chose that instead.I am very happy with my choice as they were an absolute doddle to set up,I just put the batteries in and set the date and time, very simple to do,and put it in the main docking station and plugged it into the telephone socket. When I put the batteries in the other phones the time and date was picked up from the first phone I did, simple or what! The phones work well and are very clear and the answering machine also works well and is easy to use.Overall, just the job.

I have recently bought these in the closing down sale of a high street store and have so far found them an excellent choice. I looked at some BT, Gigaset and Panasonic models and decided that these were by far the best in this price bracket and I have been proved correct.
They are very well built with a nice large bright display which is easy to read and a very clear and loud sound system which has a volume and equalizer adjustment to help "Tune" the sound if you are hard of hearing. Everything about these phones is simple to use... Set the time and date on one phone and they all update. Add phone numbers to one phone book and they are copied to all handsets. Name each handset so that it's really easy to use the intercom between each phone (instead of having to remember "handset 2" is in the kitchen you can just choose "Call Kitchen").

You can leave the handsets off the charging stations for hours and they still show a full charge and the range of the wireless signal is very good indeed. I have one handset permanently in my workshop and it has perfect service and it is only set to "Eco" which reduces the signal to save power. If you do happen to live in Buckingham Palace you can also buy a transmitter repeater which extends the signal even further.

The only downside to these phones is the horrific collection of ringtones. Not one is suitable and Panasonic forgot to put in a basic "Ring Ring" which means you are stuck with things that sound like Rolf Harris is playing a Stylophone in your lounge every time the phone rings.

If you can live with the ringtones then these phones cannot be beaten in this price bracket, plenty of features but really simple to use. Robust and smart. I'm certainly glad I purchased them.

*Update.

This model is SO much easier to set up than my previous panasonic phone. The instruction booklet is very clear and entering numbers into 1 handset and sending them to the others was very quick. The display is amazing and read easily without glasses it is so bold and clear. Although lots of choice in ring tones there wasn't one I liked as much as the older model I was replacing but I'll get used to it. Lots of additional functions I have yet to use. Answer machine good and relatively easy to navigate menu.

I have had WAY too many awful landline telephones over the years, so it was with some trepidation and low expectations that I purchased the Panasonic KX-TG6724EM DECT Phone. To say I was blown away by it is an understatement. The handsets feel pleasingly heavy and solid, with an air of permanence about them not seen since I traded in the antique Bakelite phone my grannie had for a 1970's trimphone. Every facet of the user experience has been well thought out. I add a new number in the study phone, and it can be immediately replicated in all the other phones in the system throughout the house. The speakerphone, conference and transfer facilities are all simple to use, while the sound quality of the handset is clear and sharp. The answerphone system in the primary docking point is excellent, with space for plenty of calls for all bar the busiest home and the ability to access it remotely.

You'll need to RTFM to get the most from this phone, but if you are prepared for that minor commitment you'll find plenty of upsides to outweight the fact that they've forgotten to put a "normal" ringtone into the many available (but frankly rubbish) options available.

Overall, a great buy.
