Rechargeable batteries have been the bain of my life. I use them alot for flash photography and being a photo-journalist on the move I need batteries that can hold their charge. These are the best I've come across yet.

Well worth the extra pound or two these cost. Much better than unbranded ones of nominally higher capacity, and still better than other well-known brands (Sony seemed particularly poor to me, though I have not tried the 'Eneloop' versions)

Bought these hoping they would last longer, when not in use, than normal rechargeables. I have not been disappointed and they now occupy WII remotes, all our Canon and Pentax cameras that use AAs. I can certainly recommend these for most applications, and although I normally discharge before charging these don't seem to mind if the don't get discharged. AAAs work well in our cordless phones as well and last, off the hook, longer. All in all worth the extra dosh!!

I bought these in September 2012 and used a pair in my radio. They have both leaked and are now useless. They were charged only once or twice, and in the same way as all my batteries; in a suitable charger purchased at Maplin. These are the only batteries I've used that have leaked, so I have made repeated requests to return them. The seller has not replied. Avoid.

These batteries (Panasonic Infinium) in my opinion are one of the better rechargeable batteries currently available, holding their charge considerably longer than most, especially when not in use for long periods. Recommended.

Hold their charge for a long time. Excellent for use when on holidays where you are unable to recharge batteries regularly!

There are many types of rechargeable battery out there, but these score on one important point.

After a few weeks of inactivity, most rechargeable NiMH batteries will lose a substantial proportion of their charge. This means that the camera or GS that you relied on will suddenly become useless. Thus, you have to get into the habit of pointlessly recharging your batteries even when they possibly didn't need charging.

With the Infinium range, you can forget all that. After a year of inactivity, when all others will be stone dead, these will have retained most of their charge. Of course, on a more practical level, you also don't need to worry about leaving them for a few weeks in your equipment.

There are other solutions, such as Lithium batteries, which are light and last a long time, but these are disposable and for the same price you can buy a set of Infiniums that will last for years.

I have been using these in a Canon camera and a GPS for some time and can thoroughly recommend them. They haven't let me down once.

(An alternative product is the Sanyo Eneloop range.)

Our household has a strategy of moving entirely to rechargeable batteries now that the technology has come of age. These Panasonic Infinium batteries represent a good balance between cost and power output. We prefer to buy Panasonic or other "big names" in rechargeable batteries because of the safety considerations. These Panasonic AA cells have an output of 2100 mAh which puts them in the middle range of AA cell output.

On delivery I found these pre-charged batteries had around a 90% charge and my advice is to use them and run them down before putting them into your charger - they are designed with that in mind. These batteries charge quickly although that depends to an extent on the charger you use - you can get Panasonic's own models. Once charged, my experience is that the cells maintain their charge for over a year unlike early versions which discharged in a couple weeks. The cells look and feel well made and the fit into all our devices is fine. There's nothing not to like about these Panasonic Infinium cells. Recommended.
