I originally had a Braun 340 foil head razor, and it gave me a great service to one day it just gave up.
I needed a replacement quickly, so came on to Amazon and found foil razors from not just Remington & Braun, but also Panasonic razors, of which reviews I read with much interest. The Panasonic for all their range, had received rave reviews and it was for that reason I bought this one.
Its Panasonic engine spins twice as fast as my last Braun 340, which means you can shave twice as fast anywhere, and what a lovely smooth finish. I never thought I'd see the day when I myself would backup any manufacture claims, that its as close as a blade. Well its just as close as a blade, especially if you don't rush it, and go around the face gently - learn the Panasonic Technique.
Apart from that 5 stars for a "dry shave with such skin smoothness afterwards".
Now the claim in my opinion it can be used in a wet shave with foam did not hold up to my test, because it kept getting blocked up with too much foam etc. so I removed the foil and washed the head (which is very handy) and replaced the foil after drying - with the included brush.
One of the best shavers on the market for closeness in a dry shave, and NO friction burns either.

I just bought this shaver at a bargain price, as a replacement for my Philishave Coolskin rotary razor. The heads on my Philishave needed renewed, the charging contacts were getting corroded, and I felt it wasn't giving me a close enough shave anyway.
Speaking to various people, I had heard many stories of how foil razors irritated or injured the skin by being so close a shave, and waiting for this shaver to arrive, I was starting to wonder if I'd made the right choice. However, now that I've had my first shave with it, I'm glad to say that despite giving a close shave (which is MUCH better than the Philishave ever was), I find the experience completely painless and my skin is fine. I'm absolutely delighted with its shaving performance - my skin feels smoother than it has for years, and shaving has been much more comfortable than with the Philishave. I'm one of those people who finds wet shaving with a razor uncomfortable, yet using this shaver was a breeze.
The cleaning station seems like a good idea - but only if you're prepared to pay around £10 every 2-3 months for a new pair of cleaning cartridges, as each cartridge is only recommended for 4-6 weeks regardless of how often you use the cleaning station (which I think is because it contains a type of alcohol that evaporates slowly once opened). Also, a new cartridge must be inserted every time you put fresh water in the water tank, so you'd have to throw out partly-used cartridges at the beginning and end of any holiday, if you brought the cleaning station with you. At least the power cord that connects to the cleaning/charging station can also plug straight into the shaver itself, so you can leave the cleaning unit behind while you're on your travels, or stop using it altogether, if you want.
My only worry is that the rechargeable cells inside the shaver are Ni-MH, so might suffer the so called "memory effect" and lose capacity if charged before they're empty. The manual gives no advice on this, however, so for all I know, the charger might be designed to overcome this problem.
All in all, I'm very pleased with my purchase.
