Panasonic ES-RT31 Triple-Blade Wet & Dry Men's Shaver

Used a remmington triple blade for a couple of years before this. It completely fell apart.

This shaver is incredibly good value. Its pointless buying the more expensive versions as the cutting mechanism is exactly the same. Its nice being able to easily clean it using hand soap, keeps it clean and fresh....its actually easier to use than the self cleaning options.

The shave is comfortable and close....I also like the positioning of the long hair clipper in the middle...from a design perspective it makes complete sense, regardless of which way you are shaving it will always be followed by foils. never had any nicks or pulls from longer stubble.

Dry shave is best, I wiould not even bother with a wet shave. Takes a couple of strokes to feel really close but thats the same with most electrics. No rashes what so ever......battery is lasting around 2 weeks.

I have recently purchased a Panasonic ES-RT31s Rechargeable Shaver, having previously been using a Philishave Rotary triple head rechargeable shaver for a few years. Prior to that I used various Braun (foil) models over quite a long period. In fact I have been using electric shavers for 69 years! The first was a Sunbeam single rotary head 110volt mains shaver, bought in New York, whilst in the UK we were still lathering up and using blades. I bought my last Philishave because it was so much quieter than the Braun I was then using - so I was amazed when I first switched on the new Panasonic and found it was actually quieter than the Philishave!! I knew what I should expect from a 'foil' shaver - a closer shave - and it didn't fail. Very comfortable in the hand - really nice to shave with and considering that I need to use it for a 'running-in' period yet, I think I have made a good buy and would certainly recommend it. Amazon delivery was as good as usual - ordered on the 5th Sept (Sun), despatched on the 6th and received on the 8th (their own estimated arrival was 11th Sept).

First and foremost I would like to add that this is my very first review, and it was only because of how impressed I was with this product that I felt compelled to share my great experience to anyone who is interested in purchasing a new electric shaver. Right, on to the review...

I had never used an electric shaver prior to using the Panasonic ES-RT31, and had been wet shaving with a razor since my late teens. Having shaved several years (I'm now 24) using the conventional method, not once had I complained. Wet shaving twice a week left my skin smooth and looking fresh. It was only until recently that I noticed my stubble had taken it upon itself to grow faster, maybe I'm at that age now, and seeing how I love the clean look I had no choice but to shave everyday. I found that not only did it eat up time in the morning, shaving everyday left my skin feeling very raw and sensitive. The clean look was now replaced with a face that looked like it had been butchered. I had to find an alternative!

I'm very picky when it comes to buying items especially spending anything over £50, so I spent several weeks doing research on the type of electric shavers in the market. After weeks of pondering and reading many positive reviews on its predecessors, I decided to invest in the Panasonic ES-RT31. With several reviews boasting about its close shave I knew I would not be disappointed, and boy was I right.

My morning routine prior to using an electric shaver is as followed -

1) Shower first or wash face with warm water (I read somewhere that this is helps to open the pores on your face for an easier shave)
2) Wipe fog/steam off mirror
3) Gel up
4) Shave
5) Gel up again on places I missed
6) Shave again
7) And finally place torn bits of toilet paper on places I nicked myself. This was often the case when I started wet shaving every day.

Now, with my new gadget, all I need to do is switch it on and after 5 minutes I'm done! No mess, no fuss, and most importantly no cuts.

I was dubious about dry shaving seeing as I've never attempted it before especially because of my sensitive skin, so was very cautious on my first shave. I was left very impressed with how easy it was to use and how close the shave was. Don't get me wrong, it's not as close as a wet shave but it did a damn good job.
Shaving under the chin and neck area does prove troublesome, but after going over the area 3/4 times it does the job.
I am now able to shave every morning and sometimes a 2nd time in the evening to get rid of the 5 o'clock shadow with no irritation.

Another reason why I opted for the Panasonic ES-ET31 is because of its ability to be used in the shower for a wet shave. Thought this would be a good feature to have incase my face found it hard to adjust to dry shaving. With no complaints thus far from dry shaving I have yet to try this so I am unable to comment.

To sum up -
A fantastic shaver for anyone with sensitive skin and for someone looking to shy away from the conventional wet shave with a razor.
Very quick and easy to use, leaving your face smooth with no irritation.
A very fine device for something most men do every single day.
