A nice little player,

I did a lot of web browsing before buying this item. To be honest, the brand name speaks for itself in many respects but what swayed it for me in the end was I was buying a new Panasonic TV and the Viera connectivity was an additional incentive. Anyway, it works well, the picture's good and it's simple to use. I'd be happy to recommend it to friends and family.

I bought this DVD player as I needed to be able to play DVD-RAM disks with CPRM (a copy-protection scheme used commonly in Japan), and this one plays them fine. It also plays all the usual kinds of discs. It is very slimline and easy to use. The picture quality is great.
It may be quite cheap, but it is an excellent DVD Player.

Nice player, shame about the menus...,

I purchased this DVD player to match my brand new Panasonic TH37PX80 TV. This combination produces brilliant results from ordinary DVDs. Using 1080i upscaling seems to get best results so far. Films now come to life with more detail, colour, contrast and depth than I ever had from my previous CRT/DVD combo. For instance, watching the opening to 'Blade Runner: The Final Cut' is simply breathtaking.
But .. it only gets 4 stars becuase the set-up & options menus are rubbish - they look amateur, are poorly laid out and are confusing to follow - reading the manual does not help much! Fortunatly you dont need to fiddle much with the menus to get great pictures.
