I bought 10 of these packs a short while ago. They were in the previous red/gold packaging, but the enclosed discs are exactly the same "Made in India" stocks of Panasonic-branded DVD-R 16x discs (LM-RF12NE10P) as these. I had, up to this point, been using the superb "Made in Japan" Panasonic-branded DVD-R 16x discs (made by Taiyo Yuden), and when I knew Panasonic had begun sourcing their discs from India, I was skeptical, as India have a very chequered history in making quality, reliable DVD media. But, I thought to myself that if Panasonic are prepared to put their name on these discs, they should be reliable, especially when using them in Panasonic DVD recorders. How wrong I was about this. They are extremely unreliable. I have three Panasonic DVD recorders, the DMR-EX85, the DMR-EH60D and the DMR-ES20D. The ES20D has just had a brand new DVD-RAM drive fitted, so the problem is nothing to do with an ageing laser etc. All three machines have the latest firmwire installed.
Irrespective of which of my Panasonic DVD recorders I try to use these discs to record with, a small minority of them record OK, but the vast majority of them just abort the recording after less than a minute of going into record mode. Once the disc aborts recording, it is not possible to try to record again with this disc. You have to try again with the next fresh disc. I have never had this problem with ANY of my Taiyo Yuden Japan Panasonic DVD-R 16x discs. Incidentally, I still have a few of these Panasonic "Made in Japan" Taiyo Yuden discs and have tried to record to them with these DVD recorders since buying these India discs, and the Japan discs record absolutely fine - EVERY ONE OF THEM.
Be aware of these "Made in India" Panasonic DVD-R 16x discs. I have found out that they are made by TDK, so you would be forgiven for thinking that they would be of reliable quality - at least for the majority of burns, but they are certainly not. It is quite obvious that, due to the fierce competition with recordable DVD media, Panasonic decided to cut costs by switching from Taiyo Yuden discs (probably the best manufacturer of blank DVD media in the world), to these vastly inferior TDK "Made in India" discs. I suspect they are manufactured in India's "Moser Baer" plant, which has a chequered reputation (rightly or wrongly) when it comes to producing consistently reliable blank media. I have found these discs to be extremely unreliable and will never buy them again.
If you want an expensive pack of ten coffee coasters, buy them - but if you want them for reliable DVD burning, avoid them!
