True to Cinema Picture Quality

FULL HD 3D Blu-ray Disc™Playback

Advanced 2D image technology accumulated over the years at the Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory (PHL) has also been applied to 3D image playback, allowing high quality images to approach original film quality. Lifelike 3D images with dramatic leaping effects and enhanced depth, lustre and texture are beautifully reproduced.

Adaptive Chroma Processing

Adaptive Chroma Processing is a high quality image-processing technology developed to precisely process each pixel of the Blu-ray Disc video signal in vertical and horizontal directions. Compared with 2010 models, vertical colour data processing has been increased by 1.5 times. This allows Adaptive Chroma Processing to faithfully reproduce colour data.

Full HD Up Sampling

Full HD Up Sampling also allows standard definition movies on DVD discs to approach Full HD quality. The picture is intelligently analysed to optimise the processing of each pixel.

Video on Demand in HD Quality

Enjoy smooth images even with the low frame rate of video on demand. Super resolution processing optimised for video on demand up-converts all streaming images into HD quality. You get beautiful streaming images even on a large-screen TV.

* Except for 1080/60p,1080/50p movie files recorded with Panasonic HD Camcorder.

The 3D Effect Controller lets you moderate the leaping effects of 3D images. It also lets you adjust the amount of depth, so you can view expansive images and enjoy movies with exactly the kind of 3D effects you want.

After ordering my 3D TV I wanted an affordable dedicated 3D Bluray player and this ticked all the boxes for me and nailed it with the current free 3D movies promotional offer. The unit itself is a lot smaller than I expected. I have previously had Denon and Sony 2D players and they were huge compared to this, but in this case size really does not matter because this tiny thing is super quick and loads up a BD disk in just 10-15 seconds. It produces some superb 2D pictures as well as amazing 3D depth and quality. I can only compare to a PS3 BD player which I have used and I found the Panasonic to be in a different class to the PS3 which unfortunately doesn't currently give you the full HD sound when playing 3D disks.

Two things I really like that I thought I would never use:

1. The 2D to 3D option which I have used to watch Avatar and Quantum Of Solace and felt it did a good job of making a 2D disk play virtual 3D. Not as good as the real thing but passable.

2. There is a touch sensitive pad at the top of the player and you simply wave your hand over it to open/close the tray. Really like this and very cool. Not much use if its sitting in a rack though!!

It also has a fairly decent internet portal with access to You Tube among other things, if you like that sort of thing. I found it to be quick and pleasant to use over a wifi connection (which was super easy to set-up).

Finally it comes with an excellent remote and a super user friendly set-up so I'm pleased and you probably will be too.

I paid the extra for the SD slot and Wi-fi, the SD slot works well with AVCHD content, but the wi-fi content is a bit of disappointment as I was expecting to get BBC iplayer, ITV and 4OD but all there is is You Tube, a film trailer site and paid for films, this is a shame from what otherwise is an excellent product.

Not Bad at All 12 Nov 2011
Recently picked up the Panasonic after my Samsung blu-ray died on me.

There are lots of great features on this device. SOme of them you might never use but still it does provide plenty of options. Internet and network connection via Wi-Fi is simple and consistent. The app stores needs a lot more options but with YOuTube and Picassa are very good.

The sound and picture quality is about what you would expect from a device in this price bracket and I can say you won't be disappointed by its performance in this sense.

The free downloadable smart phone app is dead handy and really intuitive. The only down side I find is that the device isn't the quietest in the world. On occasion it continues to make loud sounds after being put in standby which is a pain.

Overall though, I would recommend.
