3D and Amazing Picture Quality

The True to Cinema Picture Concept

3D from the heart of Hollywood - Since 1992, Panasonic has maintained a close working relationship with the top Hollywood film studios, establishing Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory on the site of Universal Studios. This close liaison has enabled PHL to accumulate the know-how necessary to faithfully reproduce original movie images on Blu-ray discs and has led to the development of the advanced imaging processors and chip-sets used in our range of DVD and Blu-ray players. The results are clear to see in our award winning models that achieve truly beautiful images with even more realism, depth and texture.

Full HD 3D Blu-ray Playback

Full High Definition resolution by 'Frame Sequential' 3D Blu-ray playback - the amazing picture quality of Blu-ray Disc is due to the increased number of pixels in each frame of the image. Full High Definition requires 1920 x 1080 pixels (that's about 5x more resolution than DVD) and exactly matches the resolution of Full HD TVs. However, 3D movies display twice as many frames as 2D due to the slightly different information contained in the right eye and left eye images. Only Blu-ray 3D discs can store Full HD for the left eye and Full HD for the right eye and deliver them alternately to the screen in rapid sequential frames. This means that none of the stunning resolution and depth of Full HD is lost when watching 3D.

2D to 3D Conversion

Watch 2D videos in 3D, even movies streamed "On Demand" - Of course it's going to take time to build your collection of 3D movies. So Panasonic offer 2D-3D Conversion that enables conversion of regular 2D DVDs and Blu-ray Discs into 3D images with natural depth perception. Watch your prized DVD movie collection in 3D for even greater viewing enjoyment. New for 2012, models can also convert content from the on-line VIERA Connect services, including Video-on-Demand, into 3D.

2D-3D
2D-3D
Full HD Upsampling with New Super Resolution Processor (New P4HD)

Get sharper, clearer images from standard definition discs. Full HD Up Sampling allows standard definition movies on DVD discs to approach Full HD quality. Using Panasonic's PHL developed image processor, the picture is intelligently analysed to optimise the processing of each pixel resulting in an improved picture quality that breathes new life into your DVD collection.

Smart Operation

Bringing Smart TV functionality even if you don't have a smart TV - Panasonic Blu-ray Disc products feature state-of-the-art technologies to provide you with a host of convenient, easy-to-use functions. Modern TVs offer "Smart TV" functionality with a host of interactive controls and internet access. But what if your TV doesn't offer these features? Don't despair, because purchasing a Panasonic Blu-ray product with 'Smart Operation' and connecting it to your current TV is the perfect cost effective way to add "Smart" functionality to your TV.

Smart Phone Remote Control

Convenient operation via a smartphone - Download the Panasonic remote control apps for free and turn your iPhone or compatible Android device into a versatile remote. By installing the Panasonic remote control apps onto your smartphone, you can easily operate your Blu-ray Disc Players and Home Theatre Systems by tapping and swiping the touch display. iPhone Remote Control App must be downloaded from the App Store (iTunes Store). For this function, a wireless LAN environment is required. System Requirements: iPod touch 3rd generation or later, iPhone 3GS or later, iOS version 4.2 or later.

DLNA

Enjoy Music, Video or Photo contents stored on your PC in another room - The Digital Living Network Alliance was set up by a number of software and hardware manufacturers to enable products to communicate with one another in a home network. DLNA-certified Blu-ray Disc Players and Home Cinema Systems can share or stream content stored on other DLNA-certified products. Share and enjoy digital photos (JPEG), music (MP3, WMA) and videos (AVCHD, WMV) on a Windows 7 PC, for example, by simply connecting to a home network (LAN) either wired or wirelessly. You can even install a special app on your iPhone or iPad and use it to send files to your Blu-ray device. You can access, browse and view compatible media stored on the other DLNA device while in another room, without having to worry about shuffling discs or running long cables.

Wireless-Ready Network Capable

Upgrade to a wireless home network connection - Easily upgrade your product to join a wireless home network with the purchase of a Panasonic DY-WL5 USB wireless adaptor.

Connection is via USB and most drives are compatible, even the latest NTFS (New Technology File System) format. (Playback is not possible with some external hard disk drives).

The Panasonic DMP-BDT120 may be a basic model, but it's Performance is anything but basic both in terms of audio and visual picture quality.

This is a new model for 2012 so is bang up to date in the technology department. I have a good variety of Blu-ray DVD's and this machine played them all, not like my last 2008 model LG player that seemed to have a mind of it's own and only chose to play the ones it liked despite correctly installing the latest firmware into her!

If you use your head the Panasonic DMP-BDT120 is also available in multi region flavours from some retailers and will give you even more flexibility regarding the annoying (and stupid) region disc code restrictions.

This machine has everything a film buff could reasonably ask for by way of feature adjustments and it can of course be connected to the internet with all the benefit's what that brings these days.

This model even has a SD card slot as well as a USB slot and you can easily upgrade the figure of eight power lead if you wish as it is detachable and not of the annoying captive type.

Thank you Panasonic for giving us a big bang for our hard earned buck!

When it comes to Audio/Visual Panasonic products generally do have that edge of quality.

Getting to visuals this player is brilliant I have 'Test Driven' it.

It produces images faithful to the source. I watched the movie 'Safe House' on Blu Ray projected onto a 106" Screen. Absolutely fantastic. Other brands have failed for me to produce the clarity, detail and dimension and overall waow factor.

The PHL 'Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory' technology implemented does the trick and I also view via a Panasonic projector. I believe they actually work with people in the Technical end of things in their demo room/lab with Hollywood boffins and even Directors to work towards their approval of images that their products can produce.

The Audio is also excellent and this doubles as a great CD Player as it's quick and responsive.

The networking is also great with Netflix and BBC iPlayer.

My test drive has led me to buy the BDT500 as it will suit my unit better and also look a little classier but the platform of technology is there and it's the higher model in the range.

It's hard to believe that this player is the entry model for Blu Ray/3D given how it performs exactly as claimed for about £115.

The BDT-120 is a budget yet full quality Panasonic product to get excited about. If you want a Blu Ray player with 3D Playback on a budget or not, don't consider any other brands IMO they won't cut the mustard like Panasonic!

Ps. It's claimed to be Wi-Fi with an additional Panasonic Dongle, however it worked right away and applied updates when my TP Ethernet Adapter (Homeplug) was plugged in (upstairs and wireless). It streams iPlayer and Netflix without any problems.

In looking for a DVD blue ray player, comparison sites were consulted to get to know those products that were highly regarded. In coming across this product and purchasing it, I have not been disappointed. It was easy to set up and use, and gives an excellent picture.

Great Player.Up grades standard DVDs to give them a new lease of life.I have to say it is better when used with a Panasonic TV then everythng is compatble. The Youtube app is great(just watched Diana Krall in concert from this app and the picture was very good(not brilliant but very good),this was done through a Lan connection and not Wi-Fi but the streaming was excellent and the same result through the BBC iplayer.I only have one Blu ray disc and that was fantastic.
To sum up I don't think you will get a better Blu Ray Player at this pricePanasonic DMP-BDT120 Black Smart Network Blu-ray Disc Player

I first bought a samsung BD-E5500 and was disappointed because although it had the avchd logo on the box it didnt upload and play this type of disc properly. I tried another and this was the same. I then went for the panasonic DMP-BD120 and this was a different kettle of fish. No problems playing my avchds and much quieter. Looks and feels much better and more extras like SD card slot. Its a bit more expensive but for me it was worth it. Also it has lots of adjustments and gives a great picture.
