Broaden your horizons as you explore the world with the TZ70. Packed with features, it lets you capture fine details, even in low light, so nothing will go amiss.
Precision Is Key – Manual Focus Peaking
Compose your shot with precision. The manual control ring enables smooth operation of the focus peaking function. It indicates the area of focus and depth of field so you can concentrate on your composition.
Experience the Action – High Speed Response
Take pictures or videos, of even the fastest moving action with the Lumix TZ70’s light speed suto focus and 10 fps high speed burst Shooting. No matter how fast your subject is, the camera shoots just as fast, capturing highly focused images every time.
RAW Format Recording
Capture more details when you shoot in RAW format. The image data retains the original colour and light information captured by the sensor, with only minimal processing. Now you can edit these high quality images directly and get better results.
Reveal More Details with Macro Shots
Satisfy your desire for intricate details as they are brought to clarity with the 3 cm macro shots. See more up close with the Lumix TZ70.
Time Lapse Recording
Be in awe of the natural drama such as a rising sun over an epic horizon, with your time-lapse recording. Simply input the start time, shooting interval and the number of images needed and the camera takes care of the rest. The Lumix TZ70 even records your time-lapse moments in full HD quality.
High Speed Video
The Lumix TZ70 now gives you light speed auto-focus, recording video at 240 fps. This lets you keep up with any fast moving action so you can later enjoy in crystal clear slow motion.
Stay Steady With Hybrid O.I.S.+
The Hybrid O.I.S.+ technology ensures your images or videos are captured with little unwanted movement. The 5-axis correction automatically detects and adjusts, based on the camera’s five types of movement, while the level shot senses the horizontal line of recording, even when tilted. This not only leaves you with perfectly levelled videos, but also reassuringly crisp and steady photos as well.
Showtime in Full HD
The Lumix TZ70 lets you record videos in full HD quality, in AVCHD or MP4 format. This results in more smooth high resolution playback when you watch your captured videos on computers or large screen TVs.
What Other Items Do Customers Buy After Viewing This Item?
I have had many digital cameras over the last ten years or so and am usually surprised by every one I get as to how much better it is than the one before. My last compact digital was a Canon G12 which like the Lumix DMC-TZ70 has 12 megapixels. However, with only a 4X optical zoom, the Canon lagged far behind the TZ20 which has a startling 30X optical zoom. And whereas other superzoom compacts are virtually unusable when zoomed out to the max owing to general fuzziness and camera shake, I have taken 30X zoom pictures with he TZ70 and they have come out really well. This is due to two reasons
1. The fantastic image stabilisation system which really irons out any jitteriness in your hands 2. The extremely good view-finder which you can anchor against your head as you look through it and hold the camera rock steady.
Beware of super-zooms that don't have a viewfinder - at the higher levels of magnification you will not be able to hold them steady enough to be able to take advantage of zooming in to the max. Although this camera is often compared with the Sony Cybershot DSC-RX100 Digital Camera (20.2MP, 3.6x Optical Zoom) 3 inch LCD which has a larger image sensor and therefore may take better photos in low light, surely the viewfinder on the TZ70 is a clincher for most people?
Another feature of the viewfinder is the diopter adjustment wheel - this lets you focus in on your subject so that you are fully adjusted for any deficiencies in your eye or your glasses. There is also an eye detector sensor, so when you lift the camera to your eye it automatically switches to the viewfinder and turns the screen off.Read more ›

As a long term devotee to Panasonic Lumix cameras, I have always found them to be robust and reliable. My purchase is still too recent to confirm that with this one, but I'm hopeful. I was lured away from my trusty TZ6 by the super powerful zoom on this one. The camera has a 'retro' appearance - it wouldn't look out of place in a 70s show, with it's unfussy black rectangular plastic casing. It's also surprisingly light in weight for such a powerful camera. For me, this is a plus - I like a light and small camera and I'm always amazed by how Panasonic manage to pack so many features into such a tiny gadget. I'm really not fussed by how it looks - and actually an unflashy appearance can be a good thing when travelling.
This camera has 12 Megapixels - which is plenty for any normal user. It has a 30 times optical zoom, meaning you can get much, much closer up shots without losing any quality. Of course, the more you zoom the more your shots might be affected by hand shake, but this camera features good electronic compensation mechanisms to minimise that. I've found it easy to hold and use, quickly getting to grips with the controls - partly because it's similar to my old camera. This one features an electronic viewfinder, as well as a nice big LCD screen. You can flick between the two using a button. I have always been happy with a screen and never felt need of a viewfinder, but I know for many users this will be a huge plus-point.
The camera features various scene modes and has a good 'intelligent auto' mode that will enable a user to take good quality shots without worrying about adjusting settings.Read more ›

My normal camera is a Nikon D750 but this is quite a weight to carry around when on holiday so the Lumix TZ70 was purchased as an "easy to carry around" camera for my holiday.
Pros for this camera are:- 1 Fits easily in a pocket; 2 Good lens with long zoom; 3 Excellent sensor especially in low light; 4 Fast focusing; 5 Excellent jpegs. I have not yet considered the quality of the RAW images although it is good to know that they can be obtained from this camera.
Cons for this camera are:- 1 Strong pincushion/barrel effect at the wide angle and telephoto ends of the lens range; 2 The mode dial rotates too easily so that you have to check it every time you pull the camera out of your pocket; 3 Battery life is poor. If you switch on all the helpful features such as Intelligent Auto Plus you will be lucky to get 65-70 shots on one charge. This means that you must carry a spare battery with you. As the battery must be charged in camera via the supplied USB lead this can be inconvenient and I suspect that I shall have to purchase a stand alone charger.; 4 When used in Intelligent Auto mode the control ring around the lens only zooms in steps. this can be very frustrating!
Do I regret purchasing this camera? No! It did what I wanted it to do but it would never be a DSLR substitute.

Five stars? I lied. But Amazon only allow five stars. I have owned a TZ6, 20, 40, 60 and now the 70. It just gets better and better, I will buy the TZ80 as soon as it ever comes out.
