Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

World's smallest 10x optical zoom digital still camera with 5 Megapixels. Building on its digital still camera achievements, Panasonic presents you with the World's smallest 10x optical zoom digital still camera*, made possible by the world's first integrated retractable lens system with folded optics technology.

A traveller's treasure - the small DMCTZ1 boasts huge features to make travel photography a real pleasure:;The lens part of the super-compact TZ1 features the integration of a retractable lens system with folded optics technology, realized by the inclusion of a prism. Incorporating three aspherical lenses, the crystallization of Panasonic optics technology, results in an amazingly powerful 10x optical zoom LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens contained within a slim and stylish body.

A stir without the blur; The ingenious High Sensitivity mode of the TZ1 reduces image blur caused by moving subjects - especially indoors by shooting at fast shutter speeds. Made possible by the mixed-pixel read out method of the CCD, users can now enjoy good quality 4"x6" prints of moments that would otherwise be lost. Whilst the resolution will not be as high in this mode, High Sensitivity is the difference between getting a shot or not at all.

In addition to the new High Sensitivity Mode, Panasonic has also equipped the TZ1 with its globally recognised Optical Image Stabiliser feature. O.I.S minimises the jitter from shaky hands that causes many photos to look blurred by shifting the O.I.S lens unit to keep the optical axis aligned straight against the CCD, to ensure images are always beautifully clear.

The power of the Venus Engine III engine; The DMC-TZ1 boasts the newly developed Venus Engine III, offering the ability to take 250 pictures on a single charge whilst consuming only 80% of the power utilised by the predecessor, Venus Engine II. The TZ1 allows unlimited consecutive shooting up to the capacity of the 13.4MB built-in memory or the SD memory card. This new engine, the brain of a digital camera, boasts outstanding response time with an industry leading shutter release time of only 0.006sec minimum (the time taken between pressing the button on the camera and the photo being taken) and a shutter interval of approximately 0.5 seconds, thus enabling easy capture of spur-of-the- moment shots.

5.0 out of 5 stars Panasonic TZ1 22 Jan 2007
I have had this camera since late summer 2006 and it truly amazing. Several of my friends and family have gone on and bought one after playing around with mine. It has been forced to endure me bouncing around at dark, smokey gigs and it has not failed me. My favourite feature is the motion picture (it refocuses, and you can zoom in and out while filming - which is so smooth). The zoom is (or defintiely was when I bought this camera) the best out there in a camera this small (ok, so this isn't the smallest digital camera out there by a long shot, but it is tiny for what it is capable of). I recommend you go and have a play just to see how good the zoom is....it will blow you away. This camera also has some other nifty features such as the anit-shock, which compared to my previous camera, makes my gig photos a lot clearer. The lens is made to Leica spec (so very good), it has millions of setting (looking forward to trying out the winter weather one in Switzerland), and good battery life.

Don't expect to fit this camera in the pocket of your skinny jeans....apart from that, I can't fault this camera.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect Camera 5 Mar 2007
By Simao
I was looking for a camera which have a large zoom but wit ha small size, so I ended up being choosing between this camera and a Nikon S10 and a kodak 606, this one had more prizes so I thought that it was the one ( the price was appealing as well )and it was really the best camera for the occasional photographer like me

if you are looking at advanced stuff this is not really the camera you would look for even though it have many of the stuff needed ( manual control over ISO , brithness ... etc ) what I liked espesially about this camera is the flash ability, as it can take the photograph in a completely dark room as it was taken with the lights on

there two new models from the same camera ( TZ2 and TZ3 ) and they have a higher megapexil tag
