This machine is really easy to use - mix up your recipe, put it in the machine, press the on-switch and put in the freezer! It takes between 2 and 5 hours depending how much ice cream you're making. It uses batteries - I'm still on my first set and have made lots of ice cream. (But cheap replacements are available from 7dayshop.com)

I've used their recipes, adapted them with extra ingredients, used recipes from other books etc. Only thing to watch out for - if you leave it too long in the freezer after it's finished, the blade can get stuck in the mixture. My way round this is to add a little liqueur to most ices to stop them freezing too hard!

Really good idea! 20 Jan 2007
By Polly
When looking for an ice cream maker I found that there were two basic types - expensive 'no need to freeze anything beforehand' ones or cheap 'freeze the bowl first ones'. Both had either the drawback of cost or preparation time.

Then I came upon this machine and its a perfect comprimise! You don't need to freeze anything first so can suddenly decide to make the ice cream rather than having to plan it the day before or permanently have the bowl in your freezer just in case. You make your mixture and put the whole machine in the freezer and turn it on!

You can hear it churning every so often in the freezer and when its done you get quite soft 'easy scoop' ice cream. Take the plastic blade out now (and lick to test!) and then leave in bowl or move to a container now if you are saving the ice cream. It will harden the longer you leave it.

It is roughly the same size as frozen chicken so doesn't take up too much room in the freezer. The batteries are the same ones used in a lot of cameras so you can buy rechargeable ones easily. They last around 25 uses.

Overall a really good machine for a very reasonable price!

So easy to use 10 Feb 2007
This really is an excellent machine. It is small enough to fit in any freezer I'm sure, extremely easy to use and very easy to clean. I love it!And it also makes great ice cream. It does run on special Lithium batteries, but they are supposed to last for about 25 cycles if you half fill the machine, which is enough ice cream for about 2 generous portions or 4 moderate portions.

It takes about 3 hours to make a half load of ice cream and 5 hrs for a full load. It's a good idea to set your alarm to check the machine has finished so that it doesn't go too hard in the freezer and you struggle to get the blade out of the ice cream!

I would definitely recommend this machine....buy it!!!

I also bought the 'Ice n Easy' recipe book from Amazon, which I also thoroghly recommend.
