We are going on our second Panama Canal cruise and bought this guide for our trip along with two other books. We really liked this book because it not only provided an excellent and detailed history of the construction of the canal, backed up with maps and archival images, but really gave you a feel for the ports we are visiting before and after the cruise. There is a large pull-out map of Panama Canal at the back of the book which shows in detail the locks and, with notation, explains sights along the way. Walking tour maps of each port showing attractions, color photography and great shore excursion information make this book a valuable addition to our short list of items to pack. Highly recommended.
