This wash contains 10% Benzoyl Peroxide, the strongest concentration of this effective acne-fighting ingredient, whilst also containy Glycolic Acid, an Alpha Hydroxy Acid presumably added to aid the skin-refining effects of the wash.
The wash lathers up very well, from a thick paste. It feels almost cool during use, and rinses off well, but be careful of bleaching anything. As far as I am aware it does not bleach hair if washed off properly after use - I always use in the shower to be certain.
After use, the wash leaves the skin extremely clean, removing all surface oils. This can give a dry & tight sensation, but no redness in my usage. This reduces as the skin becomes used to Benzoyl Peroxide over time. Build up usage, from once a day the first two days to twice and eventually thrice, if needed. Don't jump in the deep end.
Acne is reduced from day 1, although takes time to fully clear. Honestly, the best face wash I have used as a single acne-treatment. PanOxyl stock a UK-available wash, but it has different ingredients and does not froth-up as much.
Be warned, though. The effectiveness comes at a cost. Do not get this wash on the eyelids, it will cause soreness, redness and cracking of skin. Do not leave the wash on too long. Do not, as I found, use it as an on-the-spot treatment overnight, as this causes extreme dryness and peeling to be remedied with extreme moisturising only.
All in all, like Benzoyl Peroxide in anything, it gets rid of acne, but does have side effects. However, when used correctly, you should love this wash.
