Despite all the books, I keep searching for the truth about the causes and circumstances of the explosion of a Pan Am 747 Clipper Maid of the Seas jet exploding over Lockerbie, Scotland and surrounding areas on December 21, 1988, the darkest day of the year. I bought every book related to the case and I'm not convinced of William Chasey's charge against American authorities.
This case is still puzzling after almost 20 years. Still I remember the victims and their families who all but seem forgotten since September 11, 2001. Granted 270 lives is a small number compared to the events of September 11, 2001 but still the explosion of Pan Am 103 should mark the beginning of terrorism against Americans.
The book tries to explain Libya's side in this involvement. I don't believe that they had anything nor are they completely innocent. The sad tragedy is America's role in the Middle East which is really supporting Israel over the other countries and treating Middle Eastern Muslims particularly as inferior.
This issue really does not help American relations in the Middle East any better even after 18 years. America is occupying Iraq without a clue and pretty much sabotaging stability in the Middle East. Libya like Iran and Iraq and other countries in the Middle East have much to be angry with the United States. Before 1948 and the creation of the state of Israel, America really had no interest there except for oil.
Now with the Zionist organizations and pro-Israeli groups in our country who dictate American foreign policies to support Israel no matter what the cost to our country even if it means supporting apartheid practices which are going on between Israelis and Palestinians who were ironically born there and forced out.
Regardless of the mess in the Middle East, Chasey does provide valid points about our own country's policy in the Middle East. But if not Libya, then which country was involved in the bombing?
