Medical care providers today often lack palpation skills. Examination and manual therapy often depend on this missing ability. Myofascial trigger points are basically diagnosed by palpation. With the growing understanding that all chronic pain has a myofascial component; that central sensitization states such as fibromyalgia are often maintained by myofascial trigger points; and that much of the muscle weakness, loss of mobility, and symptoms such as incontinence that plague old age are often due to myofascial trigger points, the need for remedial palpation skills has never been so great. This book fills that need.
