Product Description

In this novella, one-time Hollywood action movie star Jack Palms (the star of Shake 'em Down) returns to the page to investigate a crooked fighting tournament in San Francisco's China Town.
Sponsored by the Chinese Triad gang, this tournament invites fighters of all styles to compete to the death for money and fame. In the tradition of the kumite tournaments featured in Bruce Lee's iconic film Enter the Dragon and of course Jean Claude Van Damme's Bloodsport, the Triads have cooked up a way to make money and exploit the betting whims of Chinatown's elite like never before.
When attractive FBI agent Jane Gannon calls on Jack to ride shotgun on her investigation, it leads them both to a sympathetic kung fu killer, a series of fights that need to be stopped, and a situation that comes to a head in one of the biggest climaxes Jack has ever seen -- in his life OR in a movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars Jack Palms is back 21 July 2011
By Edward G. Talbot - Thriller author - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Seth Harwood's debut novel, Jack Wakes Up, was a masterpiece. In Triad Death Match, the main character, Jack Palms, is back in an action-packed novella.

As with the novel, the writing is excellent and the main character is compelling. Once again, he faces choices about whether to get involved with events that he could just as easily walk away from. Harwood uses this to dive into Jack's character in a way that you don't usually see in action-driven prose. All in all, a great read that leaves you wanting more Jack Palms.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jack Palms in the house! 25 July 2011

In Triad Death Match, the latest entry in Seth Harwood's Jack Palms series, Jack finds himself right where he does his best: In over his head! This is another enjoyable action-packed romp through the seedy underbelly of San Francisco. We have some of our favorite support characters joining up with Seth as well as a pantheon of Chinese gangsters and fighters like out of a 1970's exploitation flick. But don't worry no baloney Mr. Miyagi montage for Jack, he still gets his tender white butt kicked while trying to do the right thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Action and character 25 July 2011
By Robert Ward - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a top notch action story about underground fighting in Sam Francisco. Good dialogue, good secondary characters, and a convincing milieu. Harwood is a pro, and should soon move up in the action sweepstakes derby. He's good, and convincing, and above all, it's fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take a Ride on the Dark Side with Seth Harwood 2 Sep 2011
By Alvin Ziegler - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
"Triad Death Match" is as vivid as an ultimate fighter's closed-fist blow to the jugular. This novella is as taught as a barrio cockfight to the death but with marshall artists. Seth Harwood's stylish prose in "Triad Death Match" strikes that delicate balance between lean and vital, brutal yet artistic. The action begins from the very first line. You're whisked from the hard-boiled bedroom moment to the seedy underbelly of San Francisco's gang-ridden Chinatown. Harwood's brand of urban grit is a guilty pleasure. It's darkly cinematic, compulsively readable and reminiscent of the great Richard Stark.

5.0 out of 5 stars Triad Death Match kicks A$$ 22 Aug 2011

In "Triad Death Match", Seth Harwood's hero Jack Palms teams up with disgraced FBI Agent, Jane Gannon, to investigate an illegal underground fighting and gambling ring in the heart of San Francisco's Chinatown. A driven and pursuasive Gannon convinces Jack to assist her hoping the rougue mission will help win back her favor with the bureau. Upon befriending a fighter the duo finds themselves in way over thier heads and needing to make choices that could risk everything including their lives.

Having grown up spending alot of time in Chinatown in the 70's and 80's, I truely appreciated the descriptions of the events written so clearly I felt like I was watching movie. The believeable thought processes of Jack Palms only adds to the enjoyment.

I can't wait to read what comes next.
