better than u think 4 Nov 2004
By A Customer
Format:DVD
some people hate this film, but its a film thats important to watch the whole way through, and more than once. its a film for those into films like tarrantinos, and parts of films like the beginnig of swordfish in john travoltas speech and the speech of marlom brando in apocalypse now. also people into music by pink floyd and other prog rock. it damn well makes you think long and hard about your position as a person. its a film where you have to listen and think real hard. watch it, if you dont like it then you are welcome with 95% of the other people who have watched it, if you like it then watch it three more times and it'll become your favorite film of all time. its addictive, its strange and its provocative. its no tarrantino though. enjoy. please.

Enjoyable a la Pulp Fiction or Snatch 4 Mar 2005
By Lisa Caiafa - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
This movie is quite enjoyable and the characters are quirky and eccentric. The plot keeps your interest and you find yourself drawn into the drifter's world. You can feel his pain and long to see him move forward. The acting is first rate and I was particularly surprised by Chris O'Donnell's role as a hitman. I had to look twice before I realized it was him. There are many twists and the scenery is wonderful. I recently visited Twnetynine Palms on a trip to Joshua Tree Nat'l Park. While the town isn't depicted as it truly exists, the overall desert scnenery is right on target. So grab some popcorn and sit a spell in the desert of California.

29 Palms-Thriller Mystery Action Suspense with a Good Cast 21 Aug 2003
By Laurie - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
29 Palms is a good movie worth renting or buying.29 Palms is a thrill-packed action suspense mystery filled with a good cast that includes: Bill Pullman,Chris O'Donnell,Michael Rapaport,Keith David,Michael Lerner, Rachel Leigh Cook,Jeremy Davies and Jon Polito. The main thing in this movie is that the main character doesn't know who to trust after he comes home to find his girlfriend being killed so he is on the run after he was the target of a hitman due to their belief that he is an undercover FBI agent. The only flaw in the film is that they don't state whether he was an undercover agent or not-perhaps this doesn't matter. This may be better to purchase or rent on dvd as the extra features could explain that question. There is not always a motive or reason so that could be the answer to that question but why was this particular man the subject of a hitman ? Why did the hitman record the verbal transaction asking for the proof of the hit when he picked up the bag of money ?Everything revolves around the hitman's stolen-then lost bag of money that has been reproduced into several identical bags that rotate around fooling everyone-except the one who planted the extra bags. The money is for the hit on the man who ran after finding his girlfriend murdered. We never know the main character's name as it's listed in the credits as "the drifter" played by Jeremy Davies. Bill Pullman as the bus station manager. Keith David as the local sheriff. Michael Rapaport as a corrupt policeman.Joe Polito as a security guard.Chris O'Donnell as an FBI agent hitman.Michael Lerner as the guy who orders the hit.Rachel Leigh Cook as the girl on the side of the road who's car is broken down. There are Native Americans in this as well who give good performances. This is a recommended thriller-mystery.

cheesy and fun 6 Mar 2009
By MomOfGuero - Published on Amazon.com

This movie is just for fun. We have lived in both the Quad Cities and 29 Palms so we thought we should own this. It's entertaining, but is no masterpiece. It goes well with beer and pizza.
