Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

At only 4.7 by 3.2 inches square and 0.4 inches thick, the Palm Vx connected organiser is truly pocket-size; however, this model sports a hefty 8 MB of RAM. The Palm Vx also sports a sleek exterior that looks super cool--an intangible value to be sure, but one that's hard to argue with.

The Palm Vx offers the same improvements to its screen that were made to the Palm IIIx. These updates since the Palm III include a far sharper screen and contrast-variable back lighting, which makes the Palm Vx much easier to use in low-light conditions. Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, which charge while the unit sits in its HotSync cradle, make battery life a non-issue.

You can synchronise Palm computing devices with your computer so that you can carry all your appointments, notes, contacts and e-mail with you. The simple one-touch interface makes sense to new and seasoned computer users alike. For owners that prefer Microsoft Outlook to keep tabs on folks for business and pleasure, rest easy. With the simple installation procedure, and Outlook support out of the box, you can transfer the data you have in Outlook, or start fresh with Palm's Desktop software. In addition, there are thousands of applications for the Palm operating system available on the Internet that make your Palm device work as everything from a universal remote to a digital book and restaurant guide. There is also a collection of commercial Palm software

In testing for this review, there was no problem setting up the device, synching with PC-based Netscape e-mail, using the Graffiti character-recognition software or working with the address book, date book, memo writer, to-do list and all the other applications that put the Palm OS on the map. All in all, this is a great upgrade to an already strong product. If this is your first Palm, it's a great way to start.

Superb 22 Sep 2001

To be honest, I'm really just a gadget freak who likes new toys to play with (rather than having any serious need for a PDA). However, once I got past the oooohhh phase I realised that this is an incredibly useful tool. My entire life has found its way into this little silver thing, and I don't think I could do without it now.

Its small enough to fit into your jeans pocket, and with Avantgo installed (it comes with it for free), or the Mobile Internet Kit (which you have to buy), you've got access to a world of information.

Buy one - you won't regret it!

Amazing!!!! 10 Sep 2001

I bought a Palm Vx last week to organise my diary and keep a record of addresses. I soon discovered within a matter of hours the thousands of other features it has, such as Avantgo, where you can download news from the BBC, and the thousands of other software you can download from the internet. It is amazing! Would strongly recommend this.

Simply Excellent 28 Jan 2001
By A Customer
My Palm Vx fits in my shirt pocket so I always have it when I need to jot down a note/address/appointment etc. and that's what sets the Palm head and shoulders above every other PDA. This is so much more than an electronic diary though. There's loads of excellent software around for downloading. Thanks to my Palm I now have a spare remote for the TV/Video and HiFi (Yes - really!), loads of e-books to read while commuting, News/Weather and TV listings from the internet, some great games - and that's just the start! The leather cover that's included makes it's quick to be ready to use. One last thing - I'm left handed and it's really easy to set the stylus up on the left hand side. That's a nice design touch. True, it doesn't have an modem connection but all you need is an IR equipped mobile phone (like the Nokia 7110 "Matrix" phone) and you're away. My only regret is that I waited so long to buy a Palm.
