The Sonic and Platinum versions have the upgraded Copper HEATSINK, but the Basic 768mb version, has 8 less ROP's and much less bandwidth, doesnt have a heavy duty copper heat sink unlike the other slightly more expensive Sonic 1GB models, Amazon (with FREE Delivery) currently offer the BEST Price on the Sonic 1GB Version - its quiet very quiet, when while idleling - you cannnot hear nothing, it underclocks its self, then the clock speed will boost when you need the RAW POWER... Fab value for money.

Please BUY the "Palit Sonic Platinum" Factory OC'd with better cooler at 160 Quid (Prices are reduced) here on Amazon Core speed of 810Mhz which will match the GTX 470 in many benchmaks, only a difference off a few frame rates per sec.

Thanx for reading,
David.

PS. if you like Crysis Warhead and Battlefield 2 Then the Platimum is the only way to go, as it has the upgraded super cooler... Which keeps things coool while Max'd out.
However, the Standard SONIC 1GB version is still a very good card and you still will be able to play most game's at high settings, providing your monitor is not above 24 inches 1920x1080.

If you buy the SONIC version, like so many do, don;'t worry because you can download the OC tool that I use called "EVGA Precison" its very advanced and looks after everything OC'd in AUTO mode, so you do NOT have to worry, it will show you temps of your GPU or SLI 1-3 GPU's... its the best tool on the Market, it will ensure your GPU doesnt get fried or tosty, and its used together with nVidia Control Centre, which you will have to download.

if you thought my 90 cents was helpful, please click YES.! (Apreciated) cheers.!

What can I say - This is a fantastic card.
Easy to install and runs like a dream.
Bought as an upgrade for my GTX260 graphics card and very pleased with the results.
Runs anything I can chuck at it without breaking a sweat.
COD Black Ops runs at a steady 60fps on full settings and GPU never gets above 55 degrees (compared to 75 degrees on my old card with custom cooling).
Fallout New Vegas runs the same - fast and cool.
Idle temp is low - idles at around 25 degrees in my system and I've never seen the GPU go above 55 degrees even playing Crysis in Enthustiast graphics mode with everything maxed out.
Value for money doesn't even begin to desribe this card - and based on current temps there is plenty of scope for overclocking - though I don't see why you would need to - runs really well with factory set clock speeds.

All in All - I would recomend this card to anyone looking for performance on a budget (and for those not on a bugdet why spend more than you need to?).

Very good product.
Short PCB, it fits into smaller cases better than the standard design from NVidia.
Great Performance despite its small size
And very low noise, actually very quiet

I am not a gamer so when I upgraded the PC I didn't really need this sort of performance but I decided all the same to buy a card which would future-proof my new investment in a Gigabyte P55a board, I5 and 4gB ram. The graphics were the last part to be upgraded and the improvement in the display of drawing programs and 3D mapping was obvious from the start. I had to upgrade the power supply to provide two PCI-16 supplies but now the hard drive is the slowest part of the PC. Windows gives the graphics card 7.5 with the I5 processer 7.3. These figures are with standard, out of the box settings.

This card runs well, and quiet unless it begins to heat up above 60-65 degrees, which happens with relative frequency in certain games/benchmarking tests.
Mine runs at about 75 degrees on full load, but my case is lacking some fans at the moment, I could probably get that down with the addition of some fans.
Overall I would recommend this card, the only sticking point is the lack of a VRM heatsink as seen in reviews.

In the two or three years before I bought this, I went through three cards from other manufacturers. The fan ball bearings disintegrated on all of them and they overheated to the point of burn-out. This card is still going strong and the fan, while hardly silent, is still as quiet as when I bought it.

This is an excellent card, running new gen games at high performance (Such as Dead Space 2, Dragon Age Origins, Bioshock 2, Crysis 2 - 1920x1080 with i5 2500k)

The card is relatively stable at higher temperatures but as a response to high temp. the fan's rpm increases to reduce the temp. and it can be quite loud. Eventually I installed another VGA cooler and removed the current stock fan because of the noise and the fact it reaches high temps fast, sadly on closer inspection by disassembling the current stock cooling there appeared to be little thermal paste applied and the stock fan "floating" above the gpu (which would explain the high temperatures caused pretty fast!). For the price it's excellent but if you feel you can spend a little more for that extra, I would recommend getting a card with a better/quieter fan and cooling!

This graphics card can play both Crysis 2 and Far Cry 3 on high settings (around 30-40FPS on Far Cry 3). I am sure I was able to play Crysis 2 on ultra settings actually, but I am not 100% sure so that is why I didn't initially state this.

I've only recently upgraded to a GTX 770 after about 2 and a half years, and I can therefore conclude that the 460 had served me well and it did the jobs I needed very well.

Overall, most games can be played on high so don't worry too much about the performance.
