Product Description

Product Description

Start your day with Paleo.
You have probably heard about fad diets like the Atkins Diet as well as things like Slim Fast. These diets, along with crash diets like the lemonade diet and the grapefruit diet are designed to help people lose weight but they are not necessarily designed to improve your health. The Paleo Diet, on the other hand, is scientifically proven to provide a number of significant health benefits. Individuals who follow the Paleo Diet often notice an improvement in symptoms related to chronic diseases like Type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol and even heart disease. Many people who switch to the Paleo Diet also claim that they have more energy and that they experience an improved sense of overall wellbeing.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not very paleo 25 Mar 2013
By RaineK - Published on Amazon.com

Three things - olive oil, honey, and dairy. This book relies on copious amounts of olive oil and honey and also has dairy in a few recipes. The recipes themselves look ok and I might try a few - but having paleo in the title is misleading. Glad it was free.

1.0 out of 5 stars Paleo Ripped Off 2 April 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

Even at $2.99 I feel like I was ripped off. This book is LOADED with non-Paleo ingredients. Within the first several recipes, they call for bullion, soy sauce, heavy cream and butter.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great ideas for chicken 22 Mar 2013
By Jennifer Noble - Published on Amazon.com

I liked this one. There's usually only do much you can do with chicken but this gave me lots of great ideas. I wouldn't use olive oil to cook with though. Stick with coconut oil or good fats.

4.0 out of 5 stars Chicken Yum 15 Mar 2013

Good book, would use nearly every recipe. Glad it was free. Apparently I need more word before I can post.
1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed 11 April 2013

The first thing that caught my eye with this book was how the recipes weren't organized visually on the page. Sometimes there were indentions in weird places, etc. Also, it needed to be edited a few more times; for example, the instructions in "Lemon and Thyme Breasts" call to add the "oregano" when there is no oregano listed in the ingredients. All of that aside, there were very few recipes I saw I wanted to try and I probably won't try most of them.

To address what others have stated above about dairy. I understand there are some Paleo plans out there that allow dairy (raw, grass fed, etc). So, the author isn't completely off the mark with this.

But, the olive oil! I am relatively new to Paleo. I hadn't even thought about it NOT being Paleo until I read the other comments. (Thank you for mentioning this!) While I understand it is ok in salad dressing, etc (not heated), cooked is another story! Now, I have a non-Paleo dinner in the oven, much to my dismay. :(
