**** PRAISE FOR PALACES AND CALLUSES ***

"The quality of the work rises above that of much of today’s popular literature ... She has an easy style that makes you want to leap to the next page. She’s just a natural." ~ Mary Louise Ruehr (Books Editor for the Record-Courier in Ohio)

"Easy to read and hard to put down. I read it from start to finish in two days, something I haven’t done in a while... I became almost obsessed with finding out whether or not Mary, the protagonist would get her life back." ~ Elpi Pamiadaki (Libri Populus)

"Palaces and Calluses left me wanting more: more about Mary and her life, more about the other characters and their stories, and more about the faces and places of the Cotswolds ... Rebecca Woodhead has found her niche and her passion!" ~ Melissa Maday (Book Reviewer)

"Packed full of delicious jokes, this sweet story about a woman finally trying to grow up at the age of 27 is carefully observed, rich in detail, and often laugh-out-loud funny ... as [Mary] attempts to navigate the path of the real world and figure out who she really is." ~ Sarah-Jane Stratford (Author)

"Great read - loved it! Fast paced, easy to read and hard to put down. Loved the characters you meet along the way too. Very funny in places and I was taken back to days when I was a 'Tupperware' demonstrator many moons ago, although my manager wasn't a bit like Evil Edna!" Lynn - The Book Squirrel (Goodreads Reviewer)

"Her writing has this easy way about it. Her words make you feel as if you're listening to a dear friend tell a story over a cup of tea... It is a book you'll never want to put down until the end and then leaves you wanting more. Fear not. 'Palaces &Calluses' is the first book in the 'Cotswold Chronicles' series. If her first book is this amazing, you can only imagine what she has in store for us next." ~ Bonnie Carlson Dang - (Blogger)

*** PRAISE FOR REBECCA ***

Rebecca, you're an amazing woman. So many would have given up or compromised their writing to fit the commercial market. But you still write what you want to write, what you need to write - and I admire you for it. I wish you all the luck in the world. ~ Stephen Fry

I donwloaded this on Friday and have not been able to put it down. Great story line and love the way the story unfolds. Lovely literary writing by Rebecca, descriptive, I can almost imagine the smells and envision the scenerary.... A Must Buy... Definately a chick-lit :) Not in a soppy way...

A Delightful Surprise 9 July 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I guess because this was my first read of so-called chick-lit, I didn't start to really "get" this book until I stopped taking it so seriously and started to enjoy it for the light-hearted, campy, high-energy romp it is meant to be. The book just gets better and better as it moves along. The author writes smoothly and with confidence about a young woman's journey from glamour and superficiality to discovering who she really is what she really values. Buoyant, funny, and quirky, this book was a delight to read. Just when you think you know what's going to happen, the author throws you a curve - and keeps the story open. I'll definitely be reading the follow-up novel on this to find out what happens to Mary and Jackie. An impressive first novel - well done!

I was fortunate enough to get the first chapter of 'Palaces and Calouses' when the author put it up on her blog.

Fiendishly smart move on her part!!

I sat down intending to read 'just a bit' and got dragged into the heroine's glamourous life within a few short paragraphs.
And then it all came crashing down - the glamourous life, that is - right at the end of the chapter!

To say I was on tenterhooks is an understatement.

Thanks to the glories of modern day publishing, I was able to purchase it on Kindle and was back in the Cotswolds within a few hours.

Rebecca has created characters as full and flawed as our dearest friends, and as you travel through her novel,
you yearn, and laugh, and learn with each of them.

Until the end leaves you satisfied and thoughtful.

I found it hard to believe this was a debut novel.
I can't wait for her next endeavour.
