Format:Audio CD
Whereas recent Crowded House albums have a sense of obligations are being fulfilled, this latest one from Neil Finn feels less constrained. The marvellous songwriting is present as ever, but this time the palette is broader and looser and the songs more confident as (dare I say) formulaic structures are replaced by greater experimentation and a willingness to leave the occasional rough edge showing. The 5 or 6 tracks where it really works make it all worthwhile - they are as good, and certainly as fresh, as anything that has come out of the Finn stable for some time. Give it a try!

I came across this album while on a business trip to New Zealand (oddly enough) Driving too my clients site one Saturday morning they played the track Dead Leg on the radio and I was instantly hooked. I sat in the car park for a full ten minutes (through a commercial break & the news) before they finally announced what the track was - went straight out and bought the CD!. To me, the sound is similar to Air. A most enjoyable album that deserves more recognition.

Been a Crowded House/Neil Finn most of my life and followed Neil's other solo work.
Has lots of interesting sounds going on in various songs on the album. Pretty cool type vibe from the music. The man is a genius and think this is his expression album to let him do whatever he likes. It works, tracks 4 and 8 are genius works. Give the album a try, you wont be disappointed.

I think Neil Finn would struggle to release a bad CD - the guy's songwriting ability puts him up with Lennon/McCartney and Gifford/Tilbrook. Read more
