I think this is a wonderful book, but it will be useful if you have painted a little before. It gives a lot of information and tips which are very useful, both for paints, inks and papers, but also about the tecniques used. I love animals to bits and have always wanted to paint them, therefore I bought the book, and I will certainly give it a try. I know that I will be dissapointed in the beginning because the author/artist is so professional, but one has to start somewhere. And if I can achieve something resembling the pictures in the book I will happy. I will certainly recommend this book.

Claudia has produced an helpful addition to any library of art.
Her Pen, Ink, and watercolour series are all of the highest quality.
The intoductions to the subjects are also of a tenor that goes some way to allay fears that the art world is populated by characters in a low moral state.

What a wonderful book! This is the second of Claudia Nice's books on painting with watercolor, pen & ink that I have ordered. First of all it is a beautiful book just to read and enjoy. Her instructions are clearly written and easy to follow. The illustrations are wonderful! I've just finished reading it from cover to cover and can't wait to begin painting. I highly recommend this book!

This is an excellent book for learning and understanding the structure and emotions of different animals, even if you don't use pen and ink or watercolor. I have little actual art background and am pretty much self learning; this book is full of detailed information about ears, paws, different ways to show coat texture, etc.
I was very pleasantly surprised at the detail that Claudia Nice covered and would recommend this book highly to anyone truly wishing to paint/sketch, etc, animals with accuracy. She also covers the actual watercolors she uses on the different paintings to give you an idea of how they work together to add depth and interest.
Highly recommend this book to anyone with an eye towards portraying animals in all their glory.

A wonderful book! Full of wonderful illustrations and journal entries by the artist. I would highly recommend this book! She is a wonderful artist!
