Product Description

Review

Rays love of painting and his commitment to art shine through the accompanying text. His wonderfully atmospheric paintings are beautifully reproduced, as one would expect from a David & Charles publication. Highly recommended. --Leisure Painter Magazine - Dec 06 --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This is the last of Ray Balkwill's books, I have just finished, and having reviewed one already today, I am still in the same frame of mind.
This guy has left me feeling that I have waisted the last 20 years, painting what I thought was my best. Looking at this book, even if you had never been to Devon before, you could find your way around.
A person could spend there whole life in front of an easel, and if they came away half as good as Mr' Balkwill, They would be very happy indeed.

I went over to Totnes this morning, to a gallery, where Ray Balkwill has some originals, it was raining -cats and dogs- but I never felt a drop. All I could do was stand there and wonder how the hell anyone could paint like that. If this guy ever decides to paint the -Yellow Pages-, I hope he puts me down for six copies.
Good on you mate. What a star.
