"Painted Calico & Decoupage" includes 15 delightful designs to be painted on calico, which can result in soft muted flows of colour similar to watercolour painting. Subjects include pansies, tulips, poppies, daisies, bears, butterflies, dragonflies, boats, fish, seahorses, starfish and fish. Full instructions are given for framing or making up each design into such things as a lingerie bag, towel trims, a tea-cosy, lampshade, cushions and serviettes. In an interesting twist, this combination craft book also covers the method for easy decoupage. Author Janet Eadie gives instructions for colour-photocopying your calico artwork, before it is made up, to provide decoupage images to decorate platters, boxes, a lazy susan, greeting cards, mirror, blackboard and tray. For the beginner artist there are projects based on the technique of stencilling a simple design onto calico, then adding shading for more impact. For the adventurous there are more detailed projects which bring greater realism to the designs.
