4.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Reference Book, 4 Jul 2008

I've had this book for a couple of months now and find it very helpful. It's clearly written and some of the projects cover very useful functions. It's probably a bit light for the more advanced users but for the less experienced user, ideal.

2.0 out of 5 stars Far too 'Paint Shop', very little 'Photo', 11 May 2009
By G. Reynolds "electricalextras" (Scotland) - See all my reviews

If you are interested in adding text, frames, website graphics, and special effects then you will find this book useful. If you are a photographer looking to fine tune your pictures then look elsewhere.

The balance of this book is very poor. Whilst the coverage of the basics is quite good (which would appeal to the beginner) the coverage of layers, masks, curves, etc is almost non-existent and what there is all about combining images for gimmicky purposes.

It is a VERY basic overview of the system and will quickly bore the serious photographer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Little Worked Examples, 10 Jun 2009
By Mr. L. Simpson "lee" (glasgow) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book contains a lot of information about what the program can do, but very little on how to actually do it. In the very brief section on layers, there is no actual guidance on how to use them, which is very frustrating if you are new to digital editing. A worked example of using layers would have been helpful. I cannot recommend this book to anyone.
