4.0 out of 5 stars Visually attractive and a good reference guide 31 Dec 2000
By A Customer
When you thumb through this book you are immediately struck by it's attractive layout and the use of lots of full colour photographs - something invaluable in a graphics guide but which sadly very few of these books have. Most of the main areas are covered by the author and the book is easily accessible to the beginner. However I did find some of the descriptions a little confusing and there is an important error on pages 20-21, (now confirmed by the author). My other main reservation, (shared by another reviewer), is the lack of practical examples to work through. If you want lots of these, the book, Paint Shop Pro: A Visual Insight by Pruitt, may suit you more. But all in all it is a book I'm glad to own and which has proved useful in increasing my understanding of this excellent graphics package.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good quick run through of the features 9 Oct 2000
By A Customer
Unfortunately a lot of PSP books tend to just be a rewrite of PSP's own excellent manuals. This one manages to walk the fine line between regurgitating PSP help files and not losing the beginner too much while explaining more advanced techniques. I was a beginner (and still am <sigh>) and found the book to be very good. I did get lost at times but with the PSP manuals on hand as well, things soon became clear. If you're looking for a book to whet your appetite and give you the feeling you could do ANYTHING with PSP, then this is for you. Why 4 stars? I would have liked more examples to work through, but there's no end of them on the net (tutorials etc) so it's not a big grumble...

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Info 9 Feb 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
This book is for intermediate to advanced but is fine for anyone who is familiar with image editing programs. There's a lot of examples and easy to understand and learn the program with also. I found it to be a big help in preparing images for the web. It covers the 19 color modes, masking and color correction too.

5.0 out of 5 stars PSP 6 Bible 17 July 2000
By Liz Heide - Published on Amazon.com
Before I received Ms. Davis' book as a gift, I was under using my Paint Shop Pro program. After reading this excellent, informative and easy to understand book, it is easy to understand why I only use PSP 6 for all my graphics and photo refinishing. Thanks to Ms. Davis' book, my graphic designing business has increased sales! This book is on my desk beside my computer, as I use it for reference quite often. I hope Ms. Davis will also write a book on PSP 7, as I will be first in line to purchase it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Taking Paint Shop Pro to the next level 4 July 2000
By Ed Letts - Published on Amazon.com
Just when I thought I knew everything about PSP this book opened a lot of new doors. Easy to follow instructions made things that I had found difficult like layers and masks seem so easy. The book is well written and easy to follow. I would recommend it to anyone who is ready to take Paint Shop Pro to the next level.

5.0 out of 5 stars Expanding Your Paint Shop Pro Knowledge 2 July 2000
By Davis Lioret - Published on Amazon.com
Lori Davis has written an extremely valuable book for those wishing to learn how to master Paint Shop Pro. Because the program is so powerful, many of it's most exciting features can remain dormant unless you know what to do. This book, in a clear, easily understood fashion, walks you through even the most complex proceedures with well written explanations and examples, with images that illustrate her points. Layers, alpha channels, masks, and even custom made filters are covered well. I recommend it highly.
