I gave this title 2 stars for "I didnt like it" rather than 1 for "I hate it" because despite all the negatives, there are far worse works available on ebook. The idea held promise that was never fulfilled. I was aware of the condition the entire plot hinges on, so from the outset was wondering why Carolyns parents and doctors hadnt figured there was something unusual about her. However I let that go, along with the rather far-fetched character of the child. The totally absurd notion that any parents (let alone two who allowed their child to rule their lives), would consider an unknown single man with no experience the best candidate for a live-in nanny position was more difficult to accept, but again I persevered. Then the book suddenly leapt from "strange little girl" to "political/conspiracy/secret military clap trap" which I basically ignored. It says a lot that skipping those chapters had no effect on the storyline. I felt as though the story was dragging on and checked my progress only to find I as only at 43%! I read a little more, but when the four year olds parents and aunt went home, unconcernedly allowing the child and the "nanny" she had known a few weeks to set off to canada to meet a total stranger, (who also happened to be a trained killer), I decided 45% was as far as I was willing to go. Im pretty good at suspending my belief, but the extremely long winded style finished me off. This was free when I downloaded it and Im glad I didnt pay for it.
