I've used this book for a walk from Padstow to St Ives in 2009 and St Ives to Portleven in 2010. The guide is a detail mile by mile description of where to go andd works well for that. Although you are coast walking it is easy to go wrong in towns and villages when you have to leave the cliff. When I'm carrying a huge pack and am knackered I just do not want to have to do an extra half mile because I missed a footpath sign back to the coast path.
The maps in the guide are all that you will need for the walk. There are occasional sections giving a bit of history which are useful.
Thee main drawback with this guide is that it gives no help in planning a walk, the sections are nothing to do with walk length. You need to go to the national coast path web site for help with route planning in terms of miles and ensuring you stop at a place that has somewhere to stay the night!
The guide is pocket size which sets it above others. The book holds together when drenched and after two , two week walks is still OK, readable and sits on my book shelf.

I am finding this book a useful planning guide. It includes maps at two and a half inches to the mile covering the whole route, along with local history and points of interest to notice as you walk. Everything is clear and well presented. Potential trouble spots (where one could go off the path) are flagged up. I am looking forward to making a start on this section of the walk this summer. I used the first book in this series (Minehead to Padstow) to walk the first section of the path last year and found it very helpful.

The book provides some musings and background information, which is nice, but little in terms of guidance. The path is mostly easy to follow, but at those spots where it isn't, this guidebook fails to come to the rescue. Other useful information, such as, for example "you are now at the half-way point in this walk," is not provided.
