I've been an avid Paddington fan for 40yrs & have been eagerly awaiting the cinema release of this film, I took my husband, 2 daughters aged 4 & 5, my 22 yr old son & my 70 yr old dad to see it the day it came out. It was amazing, it had us all in stitches, the cinema rang with the sound of laughter from all ages, there was applause from the whole audience at the end of the film, it certainly has the "feel good" factor.
I've promised to take the kids again this weekend & have pre-ordered the blu-ray, seriously can't recommend it enough.

I can't believe anyone could give this movie a bad review.
Ck he's not the bear that you or I remember but as new character this new Paddington he is very entertaining. Watched it tonight with the family and we thought it was excellent, possibly one of the best movies we seen of late. And we have seen quite a few over the last few months.
I think the cast is fantastic and each play their characters very well and you quickly fall in love this NEW Paddington as much as the family in the film.
You will never think of your manual toothbrush in quite the same way.......................

First BBFC rating issue with the Paddington, based on Michael Bond's classic set of children's books, the film has been rated PG for "dangerous behaviour, mild threat, mild sex references and mild bad language". Personally, I cannot see the problem - but thought it best to share. We are seeing the movie again this week with our nephews and niece.

My Partner has real soft spot for Paddington Bear, and was determined that we go and see the movie. I must say I was pleasantly surprised the film was very good. The narrative is engaging and the animation of Paddington is truly amazing and is some the best I have seen lately. As another reviewer has said the story is quite funny in the way it deals with fear of the unknown, being alone and life in general when you trying just to find a new home, in new country and city. In essence narrative that is about a Peruvian Bear who stows away on a boat in order to access the UK. He is then housed and fed by British taxpayers - tell me, where is the harm in that?

I would like to say to Adults that your inner child should really like this film, and children of all ages will like it too, for this is a film that should have cross-generational appeal, well worth a very good five stars.

This film does very good justice to Michael Bond's famous literary creation. Unlike Winnie the Pooh who was unfortunately refashioned into a bland, slightly soppy creation when Disney got hold of the film rights, Paddington bear always had a bit of an 'edge' to his character and fortunately this sense of mischief is still very much kept intact. Those of us who read the books or remember the wonderful Michael Horden narrated stop motion animation series of the 1970s will remember how Paddington's good intentions usually ended up in mayhem and destruction, and fortunately this state of the art CGI Paddington retains that sense of humour.

The human actors are all very well cast too, especially Sally Hawkins and Hugh Bonneville. Peter Capaldi (complete with English accent) is fun as the miserly, grumpy neighbour Mr Curry and even the token Hollywood big name, Nicole Kidman, gets in on the fun too as a rare animals expert from the natural history museum with a big secret to hide and a point to prove. In fact kudos must go to the casting of Australian Kidman (who apparently was a fan of the books from childhood) who plays the role as a pantomime villain and this works very well. This film was produced by David Heyman, who produced the Harry Potter films, so his track record for casting is usually pretty spot on and Paddington is no exception, even down to the voice of Paddington (Ben Whishaw, who replaced Colin Firth).

The mix of CGI and real people/locations is expertly handled by Framestore, (the same company that did the Sandra Bullock film GRAVITY) and this is a very hard film to find fault with. Paddington himself is unbearably cute (sorry about the pun!) and his sad, innocent face is brilliantly realised by Framestore.

Once in a while a film comes along that completely charms you with its magical whimsy and delightful story and is able to take you back to your own childhood!

Paddington is one such film and is totally delightful in every way. I would imagine most ages know at least who Paddington is so it is encouraging to see a film like this not resort to cheap gags to get children chuckling and consider that adults may like to enjoy this movie too.

The story is fairly clichéd in its structure but it is the characterisation and filming that really brings this too life. Paddington himself is a marvel and will go down as one of the best realised computer animated characters in history. His movement and expressions are superb and very emotive. As an audience you are wonderfully drawn into this world. The Brown’s household is full of character and delights and it is a joy to explore as the camera swoops and glides throughout its four walls. The blossoming tree stretching up the staircase is a beautiful touch perfectly evoking the mood of the scene with its ever changing look.

Everyone involved looks to be having a wonderful time too with some outstanding performances and it is always a delight to see Julie Walters drinking a security guard under the table!!

Paddington is also charmingly funny. Never gut bursting but witty and fun. London is filmed with such a loving eye that it makes you want to hop on the next train and explore it yourself.

If there is a negative it has to be Nicole Kidman’s villain. It just doesn’t hit the right notes but thankfully, until the end, she isn’t the main feature. This is all about Paddington and how the Brown’s come to love him and it is all the better for it. Superb.
