Book Description

“Oh dear,” said Paddington, as everyone turned to look at him accusingly. “I’m in trouble again.” Somehow trouble comes naturally to Paddington.

What other bear could upset the whole cinema by standing on his seat to boo the ‘bad guy’ in the cowboy film? Or drip ice-cream on the people down below? Or flood the launderette and saw Mr Curry’s kitchen into little pieces? Only Paddington! But when Paddington’s head is so full of ideas, some things are bound to go wrong!

4.0 out of 5 stars See the World Through Paddington's Eyes 18 July 2014
    Format:Paperback
Like A Bear Called Paddington, the first instalment in the Paddington series, Paddington Helps Out is set in London, UK. Again, Michael Bond takes us to familiar places like the Browns’ home, the market, or Mr Gruber’s fascinating shop. We are, however, also introduced to new locations like a fancy restaurant, or the launderette and, as always, we see them like Paddington, as utterly exciting and strange.

By now you should all be familiar with our main character Paddington. The young, charming and naive bear from the darkest Peru always means well and has a big heart. It is just wonderful to see the world through his eyes.

Like all the books in the series, Paddington Helps Out is divided into short stories that are connected to each other. The stories in this book are about Paddington trying to help out, but it wouldn’t be him if things would go as planned. Paddington Helps Out is a fun and entertaining read that teaches us that even a bad situation can turn into something good in the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another treat from 32 Windsor Gardens 22 Oct. 2012
    By Omnes
    Format:Paperback
In this third Paddington Bear volume, we discover other adventures involving our good bear and his new family. Whether it is at the river, at an auction or at a restaurant, the comic situations in this volume are a treat for everybody. Of my favorites, the one at the restaurant and the home while Mr. and Mrs Brown are sick remain the most memorable to me. With Peggy Fortnum's ink illustrations, also available on the Kindle, this electronic edition of Paddington Bear is another good read from Michael Bond.

5.0 out of 5 stars My childhood returns. 22 Jan. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The Paddington books were the first stories I can remember. Reading them again the memories came flooding back, they are just SO GOOD.
I particularly wanted the books with the original (and best), Peggy Fortnum illustrations, which are as good as I remember.

My only criticism, inflation has taken over and Paddington's sixpence is now ten pence!

I can't recommend these books highly enough to everyone.

I am currently reading these books to my 9 year old daughter and we are having a great time. They are easy to read, but especially easy to read aloud. I try to do all of the different voices (with questionable success), but have found that the author writes in a manner that makes it easy to know who is talking next. A littel dated, but this only adds to the charm.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best... 3 May 2012
    Format:Paperback
I've always had a soft spot for Paddington since I was a child and this book was my favourite of all - in particular the chapter Something Nasty in the Kitchen which my mother had to stop reading to me because she couldn't go on for laughing.

By turns wise, thoughtful and funny, Paddington should be a part of every childhood
