I bought this last Christmas for my (then) three year old, who enjoyed reading the first book where they find Paddington at the station.
This is not one of the best. Paddington jumps from a moving ride in a store, unnoticed, to mend the flashing light in a model lighthouse. When they realise he is missing from the ride, the Brown family are more concerned that he will be cross about missing the attractions rather than for his safety. The story goes downhill from there, with the twist being that, after leaving, people flock to the store to look for the bear that caused strange goings on, and Mrs Bird apparently arranges with the manager for Paddington to get a jar of marmalade from the store Santa as a reward.
Neither of my children enjoyed the story (and still don't), which is a shame because the Christmas special is usually a sure fire hit with any series.
I bought this book for my 3 1/2 year old daughter. She loved it! The book is beautifully written and Paddington (as ever) keeps her engaged with his adventures. Nice present for Christmas.

The kids love Paddington Bear. They quote lines from the books and cartoon. They know that he's a kind-hearted goof and expect to find him in some trouble, but this book is not their favorite. They like it, but despite it being the holiday season, they'd rather hear about his other adventures. It's still cute and still features marmalade and mistakes, but something is missing.

I have to admit that this is one of my favorite Paddington and RW Alley books! It's charming and delightful and everyone just loves it! It wasn't available in hard cover for awhile, so we are all thrilled that we can scoop them up again!

My son LOVES the original Paddington book, and so my husband and I decided to buy a few other Paddington stories for my son for Christmas. We gave this one to him early to get him excited about Santa coming to town, but found the storyline to be lacking in details and actually confusing. It wasn't a very good story and we were disappointed overall. But, nevertheless, my son STILL loves Paddington!
