I regularly travel to the USA and have always had problems with the rule about locking your luggage. I use hardshell cases but prefer to use a luggage strap as well. Travelling to the States has meant that I have to leave the combination code open...until now. These TSA approved straps are brilliant in that you can still lock them with your own code but the TSA can open them with a special key should they need to. Whats more it has a green LED that changes to red to tell you that the luggage has been opened. An added bonus is the chevron design that makes your luggage easy to spot at a distance.

This `TSA Travel Strap' is a simple, but key bit of travel equipment. It features a sturdy woven strap (that also makes your bag more identifiable on the carousel) with a TSA combination lock, with an opened indicator and with the bonus of a constrictor device in the buckle to stop the strap being loosened off allowing access to the bag by thieves. This constrictor device may not sound important, but many other `security' straps out there don't have this feature and can easily be bypassed. The buckle is made from shock proof material and does feel very strong and the combination lock is easy to reset. I'd recommend you use this in conjunction with a padlock on the zip and then this strap makes great additional security. If you're travelling to a more risky destination or if luggage security is your concern then this will be perfect for you and it is very reasonably priced compared to the other inferior competition on the market. Worth considering for your next holiday/business trip.

Worked like a dream. Used it for a trip to the states recently. On the way out no one opened it, but on the return trip it was opened by American security and the strap changed colour as described, and we were still able to open it.

Does what it says on the tin :)

Used two of these on hardshell suitcases on two internal and two USA flights. Both straps remained tight and undamaged.
Noticed on the return flight that one of the cases had been opened by the TSA , the indicator was showing red. The case contents had been well repacked and the strap had been correctly replaced.
To reset the indicator the instructions say "use a pen or similar object to push in metal button B", tried this but
IT DIDN'T WORK. Pushed in hole behind indicator i.e. on the back of the locking mechanism, and it reset the indicator to green. The instructions therefore need an update, otherwise an excellent product, recommendable.

The Pacsafe Strapsafe 100 TSA Luggage Strap Yellow/Black basically does exactly what you need. It's well made, easy to fit and it stays tight. I think it's worth paying that bit extra for it as it should last a long time.

Great security idea for cases. Kept our old case together and makes it easier to spot on baggage carousel when it comes off the plane.
Would've given five stars but after a couple of uses it got snagged somewhere along the line and now is slightly stretched but still does the job

I bought this strap in order to keep tight and safe my old expensive hard suitcase that has started to be somehow loose even when locked with all three built-in locks.

It does the job pretty well while making it very recognizable in the baggage belt chaos.

Both the strap and the locking mechanism seem very sturdy though i was afraid about the second one sticking out too much and getting hit many times during the long transits from checking in to getting it back from the baggage belt.

It had some obvious hits after my last trip but hold very well and i'm pretty confident it will provide me with it's service for a long time.

The only problem i have faced is that i cannot tighten it as much as i would like around my suitcase but up until now i've had no issues regarding this.

The quest is over - I have finally found a luggage strap that works and is easy to use. Most of the other straps need some fiddling about to tighten up (not only my onion, I took them to work and challenged colleagues, even shop kippers and not could do it with one hand). This one can be done exactly that way. Close the lock, and then tighten the strap with ONE hand. Brilliant. And it stays closed as to loosen it one needs to unlock it. Why, oh why did I not check PackSafe first. It would have saved me a lot of time (and money) on buying rubbish products. This one is really excellent...
