Product Description

Product Description

Allen Carr's story of transformation from chain-smoking, stressed accountant to international health guru. Thirty years ago Allen Carr tried to cut back on smoking by allowing himself one per hour. He spent ten minutes of each hour in bliss and the other 50 waiting for the next cigarette. Twenty years ago Carr gave up smoking, and then made the most ridiculous claim to his wife - that he was going to cure the world of smoking. Well, he's got some way to go but has already helped millions of smokers give up for good, reclaim their health and their lives. This is the story of how he discovered the "Easy Way", and how one man turned a dream into reality.

3.0 out of 5 stars An Entertaining Autobiography, 14 Feb 2004
This is not a book to show you how to give up smoking. It is Allen Carr's autobiography from his earliest days to where his Easyway company is now. Yes, it is entertaining, but be aware that the Easyway method is not described, other than little snippets relating to the plan.
The earlier Easyway book is what you need if your intention is to give up.

5.0 out of 5 stars A little more packing......., 22 Jan 2004
By Chris (Manchester) - See all my reviews
I liked this book very much, but there seemed to be a lot missing. There is precious little about important friends and family. For example: I know Allen was given the money to pay for the cost of his first book by a friend called Sid Sutton, but a brother would not help him.To know the difficulties he encountered would have been further insiration to me.
In the movies, whole sequences can end up on the cutting room floor but with books whole sequences disapear forever at the touch of a delete button. When a book is commissioned the author submits it and the final say lies with the publishers. Someplace in the ether there are whole paragraths of informatitve and entertaining stories, never to be seen in print!
However I learned alot about the Easyway method and life in general. It is entertaining and I certainly hoped I would never reach the end. I have to settle for reading it twice. Buy this book today!

5.0 out of 5 stars It worked for me, 7 Jan 2010
By Parent of 2 (Surrey, England) - See all my reviews
What can I say? Prepare to be brainwashed!! I read the book twice, and also Allen Carr's other main book "The Easy Way to stop smoking" and haven't smoked since. That was 3 years ago.
