I was at the concert performance of this in 2006 and tho it was an interesting evening none of the tunes really stuck in my mind except for a recollection that the act 1 preghiera was particularly fine and there was a very camp banda accompanied chorus in act 2 (this chorus is as silly and banal as I recall!).

As with a lot of Pacini, I think this is a work that grows on you but don't expect a lost masterpiece. The act 1 preghiera for Cleofide is beautifully sung and the following duet for her and Poro, especially the slow section is gorgeous, very reminiscent of the second act duet in Rossini's "Bianca e Falliero" or even "giorno d'orror e di contento" from his "Semiramide". On the other hand, some of the libretto is very silly - for example, in act 2, 2 of the characters jump into a river to drown themselves at separate points but are saved...

If you are a fan of 19th century bel canto get this, it's very well recorded with good sound and good singing but if you want a good introduction to pacini's music, get "L'ultimo giorno di Pompeii" or "Saffo"
